Ok, so I'v read a lot about the alternator failures lately.

But none seen to be just bearing failures.
I was at Mitsu today and that seems to be the route of my noises.
Apart for an exhaust bracket rubbing on the prop shaft, again!!!

So the question is can the bearings be replaced and if so whats a likely cost.
Also is there a temp fix that we know about.

I really don't fancy paying for even a re-con'ed unit since the charging side works just fine.

pull it apart (3 bolts normally) and knock the old bearings out and then take them to a bearing supplier, they shouldn't be above a tenner each

Ok, so for me that sounds like a job for my friendly Mitsu dealer.

I'll check with him first to make sure he has the right dearings on standby.

Some jobs I don't mind doing, but I'm a Sparks not a Grease Monkey.

Has anybody any idea about exact bearing size needed.

Mitsu guy says this is common on V6's aswell as VR4's, since it is a V6 after all.

Thanks for the replies, lets hope it will be an easy enough fix.
