can u fit a cylinder head from a vr4 6a13 to a standard 2.5 v6 with the same 6a13 engine

it is theoretically possible, but it is just easier to buy an entire VR-4 engine and ecu, or just sell your car for a few thousand pounds and buy a VR-4 for 4000-5000

You'd be able to upgrade to one for about 2000 pounds I would guess once you traded in your car. I doubt it would be cheaper to swap the engine across. Send a pm to The Vee and ask him how much his conversion cost him.

as brad has said, once you buy the heads and pay labour to do the job of fitting and electrical work it would be cheaper to buy a vr4. that said i dont how much the heads would be in the UK

:inquisiti I thought Mo had tried a head swap and the oil gallery joints didn't line up?

TBH its quite a different head on the 6A13 (NA V6) compared to the 6A13TT (VR4). The V6 only has one cam per head, the VR4 has two cams per head. Then you need to take into account the exhaust manifolds will need to be modified and then you will need to sort out the fuelling via ECU, so its not an easy job. If you really want to i guess you could, but you'd be better popping a VR4 engine in the. TBH i dont the BHP gains would really be worth swapping the heads.

That's a good point Paul - The exhausts certainly don't line up and as you say, fuelling would be a problem - The VR-4's injectors are just about twice the size of the N/A V6!

thanks for the info, ill see about doing a conversion this sounds the better option

K - not sure about that, but it is too much work anyway!

Also the compression ratio on the N/A model is different, which means that they will have used different pistons or rods and the stock VR-4 ones aren't very strong in the first place! The N/A ones must be tiny and weak in comparison

'Tis true - Andy had to 'hybridise' both exhausts to get a working one with his conversion - and on the UK-Spec cars at least, the standard injectors are 192cc.

Chaps, a head swap would be extremely costly for little gain. The DOHC heads are set up and valve timed for the turbos. You then have to consider compression ratio and all the ignition / fueling. So ecu would be a piggy back at least, and also don't forget the N/A uses a distributor driven on the rear head. DOHC works on coil packs so is totally different. As mentioned exhaust and manifolds would need changing and even your rev counter will not work due to the ignition change. Really don't think it would be worth it I'm afraid. To do a complete engine swap, allow at todays prices at least a couple of grand and unless you're an old git like me, your insurance will rocket. TBH much as I love mine and it's uniqueness (is that a word) although don't think it's unique anymore, I think for costs and hassle I'd just get a VR4 unless like me you like the challenge.
