BTCC Finals Thruxton 2007

What a fantastic day :2thumbsup

We got there early to avoid the infamous queues to get in and tried to find a certain VR4 at the camp site, to no avail - hope you had as good a time as we did Malc :)

Some fantastic close racing in almost all of the formulas including cousins taking each other out in Formula Renault and a Ginetta on its roof in the failing light at about 6.15 (the driver walked away though, which is always good to see).

But the touring car races were definitely the highlight - I've never been a fan of Plato but boy, is he one determined driver! You could see how badly he wanted it in every lap and it would have been a great story (his injuries, being his 40th birthday, etc) but it wasn't to be.

Anyway, enough waffling - here are a few pics. They aren't very good but capture a few moments /rally

I was there but not in VR4. If you saw a blue Fiesta ST (not so distinctive/pan ) that was us, sorry to miss you H&J. Had a fantastic weekend good practice and qualifying sessions on Saturday. In the Goodwood bar (which was packed) to watch the rugby and consume a few beers in the evening. The main event on Sunday as you say was brilliant. We had a great view of the chicane and the approach from the grandstand. The Clio cup was very entertaining on Saturday they were completely bonkers during qualifying had 5 of them in the barrier coming out the chicane on one session.

Might as well of been one of the many tents !!!!

I did notice the sad line up of repmobiles (Leon Cupras) - beautifully parked which is more than can be said of their chaotic tented village /pan

It certainly was, one of many. We were in the middle of it all couldn't get the car out even if we wanted. Great bunch of campers though. We arrived about 8 o'clock Friday night. The bloke we were next to immediately handed out the beers and turned his car lights on so we could see to set up. I saw the collection of Leons further down the field but did you see the gaggle of Astra VXR's in the next field, must have been about 30 in line/pan

Yep we saw it all as he threw a complete hissy fit right in front of the grandstand as he got out of the car. I expect you can guess the response that got/pan Very funny though as he gesticulated at his cousin on the next few laps /Wyhy (I don't think so!)
