First week of using the new VR4, just been travelling to and from work - a trip of 32 miles each way. Started with just under a full tank and noted that acording to the gauge I was using about 1/8 tank for each return journey :inquisiti Honestly I was being gentle everywhere, with only a few bursts to enjoy the performance :scholar:

Got to last night and the gauge was indicating the tank was down to 1/8th full, so decided to fill up. Expecting to be putting in about 50litres, was surprised when it was full at 37litres. Good news is that I am getting 26mpg, but an apparent range of only 200 miles. So, guys, is this normal or a problem with gauge or tank?

the guages cannot be relied on, there complete lies,
expect anywhere from 280km min - 450km max from a full tank dependant how you drive.

yeah that is quite common. Just do another 2 trips and then put petrol in and see how much you've used :)

there's 3 sensors in the fuel tank - the middle one doesn't do much! I can drop from 3/4 full to 1/4 full in 40 miles

good rule of thumb is to fill up every 200miles and use the guage as a very rough guide.

Thanks guys. Will do. At least there is the psychological benefit of less money being paid out each time /pan /pan

Yes i reset my odometer everytime i fill up and as soon as im on about 220 miles, I know its time to fill.

Its pretty spot on due to me doing to same journey everyday!

26mpg is that on a motorway or "A", "B" roads.

tick VG for "A", "B" roads.

Not so good on Motorway, i can get 30mpg regularly on the motorway, but round town on wy normal trip to work in heavy traffic 20mpg.

The other way is to use the light rather than the gauge. The light seems to be pretty consistant at coming on when I have used 50 litres. The fuel gauge is off the bottom by that point, though, so it can be pretty scary!

Yep... 200-220miles is around what i get out of mine (when it ran). However i have emptied a tank in 140miles before.
Just as a side thought.... i was a little bit strapped for time the other day and so had to do 32miles of 'enthusiastic' driving in the liner. The fuel gauge in it is pretty accurate, and showed that 1/4 was gone, around 6mpg i do believe!!!

When I went to Trax last month, I used a tank in just over 100 miles. 60 of that was public highway driving. So by my reckoning, I used 140 miles of fuel in 40. I believe that to work out to about 6 mpg too!

Work journey is A & B roads with some queuing traffic. It'll be interesting to see what changes when the kids are back at school, as this last week has been pretty free-flowing most of the time...

Lol, one day your fuel light isn't going to work...

Joanne learned to drive like that, except her first car didn't had a fuel light... Can you guess how she found that out? /haz

:inquisiti I doubt she is going to read this thread, so I should be safe...

Heh! If I get to 200 miles without seeing the light, I'll get suspicious. My fuel gauge seems to hit empty when I still have 15 litre left!!

On my last trip to Poland I was doing about 140 - 145mph over about 70 miles on German Autobahn ( ) and I've used around half of tank of 100oct V-Power!!! But it was worthy to do so /Devil5
Suprisingly my fiancee didn't say anything... maybe because she was sleeping...
