What is the best (only) way of testing how well an AYC system is working. The car i have just bought feels 100% but, having never owned anything like this before i'm unsure of how to check, test and look after this system. The bars on the dash work fine going round corners, but as i have not yet taken stock of the car i have not had the chance to push it in the corners which i hear would give me an indication of if its knackered by a nasty noise???

I have read the articles on AYC and how it works etc, but not being mechanicaly minded particularly i don't want to pick it up with a problem lurking under the rear. When i asked about getting the AYC fluid changed i was told that "no one here knows what that is" This isn't as bad as it sounds as the company have found the vehicle for me and are changing all the fluids etc prior to me picking it up. The are not VR4 specialists at all but are a good company that i have some faith in.:afro: :afro: :afro:

simple test is in a safe str8 bit of road at about 20-30 mph , swing the wheel to the left sharply and then to the right , this should light up all three lights on the ayc .

If no lights come on then you may have an issue

That is a good start then, i did that when i test drove it and gave it a good handful of beans left and right, all the bars light up with varying degrees dependant on how hard it was thrown left to right. Are they reasonably bullet proof systems?

bullet proof in what wya , the test or the actual system

have a look around on here and you will find the standard issues

like
presure switch , pump etc etc

More the actual system really. Jap stuff is generally pretty good but yeah, as the majority of the issues say, plenty of things to look at and pamper eh.

The AYC is one of the less reliable systems on the VR4. But providing you service it as required and the lights are doing what they should on the dash, you shouldn't need to worry about it.

Yeah - Keep the fluids fresh and they'll soldier on. Pressure switches can be a problem, but adjustable ones sort this issue out. Reports suggest that they're not keen on lots of power, the lancer boys on the MLR well know the issues that arise from this. Not really seen an AYC diff play up because of too much power on a VR-4.

As with many other areas of a VR-4.... Look after it and it'll look after you.:scholar:
