That was a damn good drive that day. Weather was a bit marginal, so could have been faster... We did it fairly safely though, so happy with that.

I'm in!

Who here has UHF transceivers?

Also, who's going to be the pace setters? I think we should put the more confident drivers up front who know the hazards and can keep control of the flow. A couple of the more experienced drivers down back would be good aswell incase something happens (which we know won't but I've learnt it pays to be prepared).

Bring your medikits, bring your fire extingishers, and remember your spare tyre. This will be fun :)

Kudos to the commitee for organising it (officialy). A bottle of Spree all round :D.

I am usually in the front. I probably will be again, though this time with standard suspension and fairly mediocre tyres it shouldn't be too hard to keep up.

I'm going to be mounting a camera in my car, so I will stay near the back to catch you all. Plus I don't have the same amount of power as you guys :( so trailing suits me to the teeth. Can sort that out on the day though.

If we are leaving mills lane at 11, I will show up there at 10:30

I'm thinking of heading out super early and cycling up there... I might try to fit my camera in my bag so I can get some shots of you guys on the stright 5km from Wellsford (lol, the end of the street where I used to live!).

I'll just be towards the back if that's OK as I am somewhat unfamiliar with the route being planned, plus the fact that I'm carrying a small AT niggle as well...

We will try to keep our speed in sync, in order to keep the group together as much as possible.

No no no no no - I'll probably be leaving home at 7.30'ish - I think it'll take me a good 3-4 hours to get up to Wellsford, from memory it's about 80km from home.

PS: I used cycle up to 100km sometimes in Holland - I miss that feeling of freedom a bit.

And it's oh-so-useful for Kenny to pick me up in :)

I've done 100km once, and that was last month from Hamilton to Auckland - training now for 160km round Taupo in 3 weeks!

soooo....anyone willing to donate to the "cvr4 people who got done on the wellsford run fund"?

Gly
10-11-2007, 06:35 AM
LOL.... who? and by a cop or camera van??

Subaru ETA
10-11-2007, 07:00 AM
sam and i.....sam got done by a marked cop car that came out of nowhere - 136k.

then later on a honda was in the middle of the convoy, i pulled out to overtake (he was doing like 95 at the time) and he sped up...turned out that when we got to wellsford he pulled into the carpark and he was an unmarked cop!

he took my license and said i had lost it coz he got me at 141k. we argued it out abit adn considering his radar only had me displayed on it at 136k he ticketed me for 136 - $400 50 demerits.

the others got a stern warning for there driving esp brad lol

o yeah thanks brad for saying what you said to the cop, i think it helped me alot, cheers mate.

but then the cop who pulled sam over turned up and was like "right which ones are loosing there licenses" and acted like a real cock...as i said he looked like the gay cop from reno 911. he then goes "im going to D16 that white one (defexion) for that sticker on the windscreen. his cvr4 sticker was no in the right place on the windscreen.

so yeah as everyone noticed, i drove back quite slow! :P

bradc
10-11-2007, 07:03 AM
He gave the driver of the Black legnum a warning, not me - dunno what you're on about :)

Subaru ETA
10-11-2007, 07:04 AM
haha, yeah, but he did say "who was driving the black one?" and was pointing at your car :P

bradc
10-11-2007, 07:47 AM
not my problem, if he ever tries to charge anyone else, we can all say that he thought a white prefacelift non-VR-4 did something worth mentioning, when it was actually a white facelift VR-4, and that he thought my car was black, we can just say that he obviously didn't really know who's car was who.

Subaru ETA

interesting thing i just read on the police website -
"All speed measuring devices are to be operated in an overt manner. Hidden or camouflaged deployment is not to be used unless there is a specific operation targeting offending "

so, ummm where was the cop that pulled over sam i wonder?

DefeXion
10-11-2007, 10:51 AM
prolly lurking behind a bush somewhere.

Subaru ETA
10-11-2007, 10:54 AM
yeah i think its pretty dumb how we got done like that...tonight on my way out to go karting i was following a drunk driver, rang the cops and they didnt care!

mpau009
10-11-2007, 11:04 PM
Dude only just read this - way sucky -...

Although, i did say at Brad's.. there have been cops all over that piece of road in the last 3 months, cant say iv ever seen a honda though:inquisiti I think that bit of fun is probably shut down for good these days.

There is a camera van on the riverhead coatesville highway every week, usually in a different spot, plus they cut the limit from 100 to 80 a while back, so you really would get shat on/pan

soooo, clubvr4 track day in the new year?, got to be cheaper than $400 a car:P

Subaru ETA
11-11-2007, 04:48 AM
far i rekon aye im keen for a track day!!!

o yeah, i took my anger out on the go kart track last nigh out at east tamaki...the dude said that my time was the fastest for a non competitive driver! my fastest time was 23 sec and the dude i was talking to who worked there said the lap record was 22.5 set by him

Subaru ETA
11-11-2007, 04:55 AM

Kenneth

To be honest, I would think it worthwhile contesting both of those tickets...

Sams is the most cut and dried, but even then there were 6 of us an no one saw the police car. Would have to look up the law on that one though.

As for the other... Did the police man effectively admit to speeding up? If so, and you have a witness (Girlfriend) then he was doing something dangerous. It also means that the speed you had to attain to finish passing was due to his actions not yours.

SHOWVR
11-11-2007, 11:41 PM
just as well i couldnt make it!! I would of got screwed......hahaha

bradc
12-11-2007, 03:35 AM
he did admit that he sped up to get a measurement of David's speed. When David said that the cop had sped up, and that that in itself was dangerous, the cop changed his tune a LOT, from you're going to lose your license to well here is a ticket
