Ok people,

I've visited this issue a few times now and after using search, including a post of my own over 2 years ago , MY BRAIN HURTS.

I am getting to the stage where I am going to do more work again to the car.

The AYC fluids have not been changed in an age, yes I know/pan , but it has never caused me a problem.

What I am looking for is a final answer to the AYC debate, as in which fluids need to be changed, how often and with what. And of course how to do it.

I know The Mighty Kieran has done some work on this and as usual its excellent, but is it possible to pull all our experience together on this one.
And if the manual and auto boxes make a difference in any way?

We are starting to loose some really good people with loads of experience, so I would love to make use of thier brains before they are lost.

It should be all you need to know.

Wirdys fluid change article shows the diff fluids being changed. That is what should be done regularly. How regularly? Depends on how you use the car, IMO. 4500 miles minimum, maybe 3 or 4 times that if you drive gently.

The other fluid is the one you can see in the reservoir in the boot of the car. This is effectively doing a similar job to your power steering. It should be capable of lasting a very long time!

Manual / Auto should not make any significant difference. The engines power is still the same ball park, the cars weight is the same ball park, etc.
