My daughter drove a basic 1997 Fiesta 1.2 around for 18 months without a hint of trouble. 'Upgraded' to a 2000 pug 206 HDI d-turbo with power steering two months ago.
1st off, ABS sensor went puff :|.
Then, the other morning, the battery was completely dead. Greenflag man came out as I was at work. Started it up, but said the battery wouldn't take any charge...
So I picked up another battery on the way home.. 100 feckin' quid :o
Put it in... and within a couple of hours it was dead!
Had to wait till yesterday to investigate - a brief gap in the arctic darkness! Stupid frogmobile was drawing around 20 Amps with the ignition off :o:o:o!
Anyway, turns out that because these newfangled HDi engines run so cold, they stick what amounts to a bloody immersion heater in the waterpipes so that you can get warm toeses in the morning. One of the relays to this had fused - hence 20 amps suckage on the battery.
Yanked the fuse out, and the battery lives. Just have to get hold of a couple of new relays now - the lass will have to dress warmly for a couple of days!
