Well, its almost time for an oil change and anything else needing to be changed ie, spark plugs on the car.

Question now is when and where?
Id suggest someone with the tools, and the space?
Could also have a bbq etc etc

a good time would be early on whatever morning? as i think some of us a wanting our plugs to be changed etc? - that usually takes awhile unless you have the correct tools... aye rayray... lol

But here it is.. suggestions... and boys check ur PM every now and then.
Wynn... its that thing up the top there... PM is probably full.

whenz!

any weekend once the plugs arrive and before the 21st dec i will make an effort to be at.

29th-2nd my brother is in town for the weekend so probably getting up to trouble with him, but im sure he wouldn't mind tagging along. if that overlaps with the date.

Im thinkin 1st December or the 8th December (hoping plugs arive by then)
From the 14th onwards im away from wellington.

Pretty much why i want to get car done ASAP with fluids etc.

Robotnik123
15-11-2007, 02:54 AM
I was thinking of volunteering my place as a venue. There is sufficient space, but then I realized that your lowered cars would not have the clearance up my driveway - my stock height VR-4 clears the drive by about 2cm and I have to go slowly up the drive, lest I hit bottom. Your slammed cars wouldn't have a show of making it, so nevermind...

likewise, though my away date is 21st... if that wasn't obvious ;-)

I can offer my pad but i only have limited tools so if people wanted to bring some. My driveway is rough but you get any car up it.

The 8th sounds good. I might have to buy a something new to put on my baby.

sounds like a plan so far,

what tools do you need for the obvious spark plug change and whatever else?
Im like ray, except i have no tools... only for PC's. Philips is all i need. hahahaha (butter knife works a treat) lol

Rosco_NZ
17-11-2007, 10:36 PM
i got socket sets, pliers, grips, hacksaws, knifes, hammers, screw drivers.
most of the 'smaller' tools.

DONT have
powertools (drill being the one i miss the most)
trolley Jack or ramps or axle stands
funnel / oil catch tray
engine lift/crane
good bbq (its all rusty & could do with a workshop day of its own)

but i know dixon has some ramps which can be made to work on the lower vehicle with some extentions... planks.

so 8th or 1st? read 1st in other thread, and 8th above...

cool, well we have quite a few tools right there? well i think so anyway.

thank you to the above people for suggesting thier place as a location.
i would suggest mine, but im on a hill with off street parking and on the bus route too! (i know... not good)

i think rayrays would be the best location. Easy access for the lower cars, and quite enough space for a few cars aswell. and close enough for everyone? (lower hutt)

Right Guys,

Only just got to this thread..................busy..............work.... ..........sh!t /Grrr /pan /pan

I've got tools if required, but........and here's the rub, I can't make the 8th December (Number 2 son's passing out parade from Army basic training), and the 1st is dodgy too.........Number 1 son's off to Aussie that day. Got to see him off at the airport.

So I'm a happy starter and helper............if the days the right one.......... Sorry.

How does that fit in with everyone else then.............(like a square peg in a round hole I suspect) /pan /pan /Grrr

take the VR4, you will be back in no time... lol

Im just thinkin of times at the moment. Im guessing if we do start early on the 1st december that you will join us? then leave for a bit to see No. 1 son away and come back?

I can see us finishin bout 5-6pm if we start at 10am whatever day.

sounds good, gotta drop my brother at the airport about ~3:30-4pm, so better make it an earlier start. also, hasn't been discussed but i assume there is a garage to work in, incase of bad weather?

it will be like xmas for the leggy.

d i c k i e s
19-11-2007, 11:14 AM
rayray has a double garage. so i think that aint a worry? 2 cars at a time i guess?
(hopefully its okay with the famz)

well what we should put down is whos planning on getting what done?

Me, Oil + Filter change and plugs changed.

I don't require any work, but I'd like to come along.

There is one thing though, I'd like to check under my car to see if it has a slow leak in the front diff. Last month when I had a service, the mechanic said this might be the case and to bring it in, in the next couple of months for them to check out. Can I get the car up on ramps or something to have a look for that?

Rosco_NZ
19-11-2007, 10:08 PM
primarily just the oil & oil filter & plugs.

but secondary if we have time,

investigate the hiss noise that comes from somewhere near the rear plugs (good excuse to investigate it, maybe vaccuum leak or somethign?)

reposition BOV (getting a U shaped hose section and point it up instead of hanging down too be taken out by the next low curb i drive up...)

re-fit left front wheel arch liner and secure...

remove front bumper (to take in for repair)

change other fluids (ATF primarily, but ayc etc too) if we feel we have the skills (and i have the bank balance to buy the fluid).

check wear on inside of rear wheels, investigate the 'rear camber' fix, though this will require getting guards rolled and dont think ill have the coin to do that before then.

not a big list /pan

putting your car up on ramps is really a small task compared to my list Robotnik123...

Hang on, let me start printing the tutorials we need.
Yeah i wouldnt mind doing brake pads aswell. But, ill get these things done first as WOF is due around that time before i leave wellington for xmas holiday. So im saving a lil coin just incase. may need a new tyre?

Hope there isnt anything major need fixing or replacing. Last WOF it flew through. So yeah.
