Fields serviced my car last week. 22,500 miles.

Gasket, o/drain plug 0.54
element, oil filter 6.66
service kit 3.90
screen wash 1.90
brake de-dust 3.06
1.7 litres diff oil 12.75
4.5 litres synthetic oil 54.45
labour 95.00
VAT 31.20

Invoice total £209.46

They have recommended the change of the p.a.s./air con belt. They will phone when the part is available.

Not a bad service. They washed the car but not very well. They cleaned the interior very well. I shall be using them again.

Nick, the belts from Mitsy cost an arm and a leg and you can buy and equivalent from a local motor factor for a fraction of the price. Then get them fitted elsewhere - the guys who did mine said it was dead easy. I did post a thread on this - let me have a look.

Very busy recently, so opted for the dealer to do the job. Tried to get it done under warranty, but to no avail!

If it had been summer, I would have done the job myself, as the dealer charged 45 mins labour, plus the belt, plus VAT!!

Wait for it.....

A few pence change from £80!!! :stunned: :sad3:

Washed the car this weekend, and found something hanging from the plastic undertray at the bottom of the engine. Popped the bonnet, and found that it is a part of the belt the dealer fitted. It looks like the belt has jumped sideways and ripped itself apart on the edge of the pulleys.

Fields are having it back tomorrow, lets see what they do.....

Sorry to hear that, hope it hasn't caused any collateral damage like Mo's did. If you want the job doing properly.........hmmm
and people wonder why I have little faith in main dealerships.

My business goes to the independent sector -preferably a motorsport prep orientated business.

Car sorted Nick?
Any explanation from the dealer?

Picked it up last night. They have said the alignment of the pulleys etc is okay, they think it must have been a dodgy belt. Changed the belt, hoovered the car, asked me to keep a close eye on it.

No charge, friendly people, but I can't help thinking that there could be something more fundamental wrong. Having looked at it now with the engine running, it seems to be running straight and true.

I'll watch it like a hawk and see what happens. After Mo's incident at SP last year, If it snaps it could be a big problem!
