Ok so this is for my parents.

They have a Mk3 Astra saloon from new.

So it owes them very little but its what they want and its still runs like a dream.

The question is that it seems to have sprung a leak, on the inside.
Its getting damp, so they have been dispatched to get some silicon lubricant for the door seals, incase thats an issue.

But does anyone know of any inherient problems with these. It does not have a sunroof, so that rules that one out.

All input welcome as always.

where is the water pooling in the car?

edit: right first things to check, windscreen seal, see if it has lifted anywhere
next check if its running through the scuttle panel, easiest way to check this, feel up in te front footwells, see if there damp.
door seals next, have found doors with a curved top like the astra and my vws, the water, sits in the top of the door edge, runs down the seal, and then seeps into the car, and not outside....
check the windowscrapers, see if water is pooling in the doors themselves

these are a start.....please try to avoid silicone, i despise that stuff being used on cars, nightmare, and parts for astras are cheap as chips anyways

The silicon I'm talking about is a specific lubricant designed for rubber seals, it just rejuvinates them.

Used it on an MR2 targa roof with great effect, it is not silicon sealent....

Thanks for the starting points.
They are off to Spain at the weekend so hopefully might get them sorted.

Sounds like a blocked / dislocated drain pipe to me too.

check drian pipes arent blocked with crap

get inside the car and get someone else out side to run a hose over the car slowly 1 bit at a time and look for drips etc, best to work from where the water is pooling upwards

The answer, from another source sounds like the heater matrix may be shot.

But will try all possible solutions, as they want to keep the car till it dies.

Or my mother gets so fed up she goes out and buys a 3 series.../pan
