Right I've been off work with ME since July 06. I got paid by my company till July 07 and then I went on Incapacity, not that I wanted to but needs must. I have had an expensive private treatment for my ME which means I'm not housebound anymore (whohoo) and I have my body back with no pain and I am more active. But I've still not got my head back and I can wipe out quickly and the doctor has told me not to even think about work for at least 3 months and to be honest I probably wouldn't get employed.

I had my medical on Monday (typical that it came after my treatment) and I didn't score enough points on their yes or no tick list so they have stopped my benefit. I am not ready for work and believe me as soon as I am ready for work I'll be on a mission to get back into employment so what do I do? If I don't get my benefit we'll be £260 short each month on our bills, which are as low as I can get them.

There's all these dole bludgers out there and all these foreigners that come over here and get flats and benefits and me thats paid in all my working life and never been ill till now and I can't get nowt!!!!!!! Sorry I'm so angry and upset I just wanna get better and get out this ridiculous system. :annoyed: :veryangry /Hissy

Sorry to hear that, you can't take the test again or go to another doctor or something?

Check in your area for any type of support group. Depends on the size of

your community there may be several organizations from which to do draw

aid and/or assistance. Good luck and hope everything works out well.

i only know that the people who really need them, either dont get them, or get very little. and the people who get them really easy seem to have a lovely house with a big TV, brand spanking new car in the drive, and no job.

have you got down to your local CAB? and see what they say?

I'm gonna phone my job centre adviser on Monday. I only saw her Friday and she gave me a lecture about not going back to work too early because I would cost the system more as going back too soon would mean I would come crashing down and be much worse than I was. Its all a joke to be honest.

Your local CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) would be my recommendation too.

Make a new claim for incapacity benefit, and use stress as a reason for not being able to work. Go to your doctor and say you are stressed, so they can support the claim.
Make sure that you tick enough 'cant do' boxes so that you pass the test.

If you fail, leave it a few days and make another claim. They cant stop you from making a claim, and eventually you will know which boxes give the most points.

This new system is all about stopping lazy bast*rds from claiming but it is now so tough its nearly impossible to pass. But don't be put off, if you genuinely can't work and its not a permanent condition, you are entitled to the benefit.

Sorry you are having such a hard time Kelly.......hope you get it sorted out......surely you can appeal ?

Here's a story for you......not sure on all the facts as I don't know the people personally but Conor is friendly with one of their sons.

Anyhow, family down the road have been in the USA for approx 8 years - the father got a contract with a company out there. The company got sold/bought out and the terminated his contract and he couldn't get a visa to stay out there. So they are back here, and they are in a house down the road and benefits pay for everything ! Apparantly they have also been heard to say that it's not worth them working as they would only be a few £ a week better off.....FFS !!!!!

that happened to us, but we didnt get any benefits had to live on the skin of our arse in grandparents house. dad got a job offer in new zealand, he took it, sold the house sold most of our possesions, the rest of the stuff into storage....then the job fell through, and we got stuck with no house, only our cherished possesions and near enough living on the streets, all had to move in with my nan and grandad.....

but life turns around, 14 years on, now living out in the country in a big house with a rapidly going business... your situation is slightly different because of your ME and you didnt sell up everything, but im sure if you keep pushing for it, it will all work out in the end. get down to your local CAB office, ask them what you should be doing, get a written letter i suppose from your job advisor and your DR. then go and be very lady like with the guy who marked your test...stand on his face and let him admire your boots, whilst shouting "LOOK AT MY BOOTS!!!!".....no actually that owuld be a bad thing to do.

do what i said above apart from the last paragraph, the boot stomping etc...
hope you get it sorted though

Ur funny pitslayer.. look at my boots lol

I'd suggest also going to CAB Kelly and making appeals and reclaims. Eventually you'll get something. They can take weeks to process so you might benefit from having some kind of support worker in your area that can help. The CAB will know who you can speak to to support your claims.

I wish you the best of luck in getting it sorted, the system is a bugger but it CAN be broken!

Oh PS. mental health issues is a good one, they are hard to prove that u are not nutty. i know of someone who attended their medical in their dressing gown, slippers and make up on only one eye and blusher on the opposite cheek. It worked.

PMSL @ the boots and at the dressing gown and make up.

Good news is I can still do my Condition Management Programme which u get put on to help u get back to work. The chap said that they don't "dump u" like the benefits do. This is good as this has been helping me.

I've got an appointment at the doctors on Wednesday. I've printed out my appeal form and I'm just listing all the treatments I've had and when certain things happened so I am all prepared.

I'm thinking about sending my CV to the benefits agency with a covering letter asking if they'll employ me s they believe I'm fit for work!!!!

Thanks for all your support. I appreciate it

Just had a phone call about one of the jobs I applied for on Sunday but I need to be signed back on by the doctor. Its ideal job too 9.30 - 1.30 doing admin. The lady sad to ring her back on Wed after i have spoken to the doc. Do I just tell the doc I'm ok to work and hope I can keep getting better or do I try to appeal and go back on benefits argghhh?

That's a difficult call - I guess you can answer the question better than anyone else.

I'd have an open and honest chat with your doctor, (Is he a specialist? Could you find one of not?) then decide if you are ready to work. I guess as it is a job with not too many hours, it could be a good way back. I have an Aunt with ME, she has had it off and on for years. It would be good to see someone beat it! Good luck.

Tell your aunt she wants to try the Lightning Process. Thats what I did and its brill I can't believe how much better I am. Its got a 96% success rate and me and my mate have come out much improved.
