All,

Due to personal reasons I am standing down from Clubvr4 entirely, please note that this has no bearing on anyone, this is a personal choice which I think will aid cvr4 for the coming years.

I would like to thank the following people for making this club what it is today.

Pete - For being they’re since day one supporting me/club during the hard times – couldn’t have done it without you – sorry for the coarse words I said before, they were not meant.
Andy - For making sure all of our members received their membership packs, adding that personal touch. fantastic just bloody fantastic couldn’t have done it without you.
Kieran – I never could have asked for a better, warmer funnier and more welcoming committee member as you, you are one of a kind you really are.
Nick – For ensuring that ever single Clubvr4 event was dry! I mean.. for ensuring each one was a total success and well received by all attendees – top notch work Nick.
Richard – Richard thank you for everything and in particular all the work you done on the library – I hope you start feeling better soon!
Previous UK Committee – Big thank you to all of our previous committee members, again without your help, support and assistance we would not have been here today.
KiwiTT – Richard thank you for making Clubvr4NZ what it is today, long may CVR4NZ Continue.
NZ Committee – I wish you all the best with CVR4NZ - I still cant believe you guys aren’t huge yet.. there are millions of vr4s out there! :p
The Members – above everyone its you who have made this club what it is today, without you there would be no clubvr4, without you clubvr4 would be nothing – for this I stand up and applaud out loud each and everyone of you.

I will miss each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart, I will not be attending any future events as I feel this would break my heart.

Please do not forget the 3 F’s A Fun / Family / Friendly Club.

Peace out ya’ll
Love
Me

This is without a doubt the saddest thing I have ever seen on CVR4.

I'll miss you more than you'll ever know, boss. CVR4 without Barry is something I can't entirely imagine at the moment. Indeed - something about which I don't even want to think.

Thanks for creating this club - it is now my life and one of my loves. I will always feel indebted to you for letting me enjoy myself through these pages and at Club meets.

I truly hope that you can make it back here at some point. Without a doubt you will be welcomed happily and enthusiastically by all.

This is the darkest day in CVR4's history. CVR4 is Barry, through and through.

Without him we would not exist, and without him it won't ever be the same.

The old saying "from little acorns......" is never more true than in the case of this club, and Barry was the leader and driving force behind this.

Whilst we are all still in shock, we also have to respect your decision to leave, and please take our love and sincere thanks for everything you have done for CVR4.

So many people owe you so much.

WooT!!!???? But...but..but...but....

You can't go. Resignation refused - get back in the kitchen.

We'll be lost. Wandering around homeless, leading pointless lives, turning to drugs, prostitution, sheep...

I'm shocked, perplexed and confused.

I hope everything is ok mate. Need any pills ;), you know where to look....:D

Very sad to see our leader go. Like so many others on here, this ClubVR4 thing that he started has become a major part part of our life over the past few years, enabling so many entertaining days / weekends and even short holidays! Also the people and good friends we have met through this club are quite unbelievable, and for this we thank you Barry. Oh and the car info ain't bad either! We sincerely wish you all the best and hope you'll drop by from time to time. You're always welcome here.

Don't really know you dude, and wasn't aware that you were the founder, but from one of the less regular members thanks for all the informative/amusing posts. There's got to be hundreds of people like me who would be feeling there way in the dark (or just paying loads of money to a garage) if it weren't for the time people like you take to share the knowledge.

Good luck for the future.

All good things come to an end and life trundles on at its own pace. What you started will live on with your memory burning bright.

There will be many more come and go through the forum, some will stay a while and some may make a name for themselves, just as you have.

Its only a sad day if you are leaving with regrets, otherwise look to the future and enjoy pastures new.

looking at this thread it is obvious that Barry will be greatly missed.

He must have a very very good reason why he has decided to take the steps he has and i think we can all respect his decision and just wish he all the best, and hope he is not a stanger.

I know what would make me bstop using the club and hope it is not that ,but it is very understandable.

As many of you know ........ I haven't been on the site for quite a while for personal reasons.

On reading this post from Barry my immediate reaction was that it must be April 1st, but alas it isn't, and we have all lost a dear friend.

ClubVR4 will go onwards and upwards without Barry but lets all remember that this site IS Barry ........ he did all the development work and also created the pleasant, family oriented feel to the site.

I'm personally of the opinion that it's not the site itself that will suffer but the Members who knew Barry and really, really enjoyed being with him at 'meets', trackdays and the like. I do hope he will reconsider this aspect and come to a few meets in 2008 and beyond.

On the other hand ......... maybe Barry is going to buy an Aston or such-like and will start a new forum! (Must go and count my pennies.) :inquisiti

All the very, very best for your future Barry.

Rhubarb is great with some sugar...

Everything has been said about this departure - I've never met you but by the sounds of things you need a change to help make things better for yourself, I hope this works out for you. Thanks for creating this knowledge-fest resource that I now find myself scouring daily...whatever you go on to do, I hope it is very successful and keeps your interest piqued (I think that is the word I'm looking for!).

The rhubarb comment was in regard to someone asking what can be said that hasn't already been said...

Just for those of you that think there must be something more - there really isn't.

The committee were all as shocked as you guys are and personally I still am! Barry has written his thoughts on his first post and as he said, there is no ill-feeling between any committee member and Barry.

We all - to a man - wish that we still had Barry here as he always had been.

Sorry, but the first post in this thread (and to a lesser extent the "Barry IS the club" posts) just annoyed and depressed me.

I don't know the guy very well, but to me there's something a bit odd about the way he's left - I know I ought to give him the benefit of the doubt, but then he's not actually left any doubt himself by making this post. It clearly surprised everybody, committee members now responsible for the upkeeping of the website included, so to me it's either the guy has got upset over something or he's in a bit of strife personally. I accept he may have got bored and wanted a change as well, but the sudden nature of his leaving makes this hard to believe...but like I say, I don't know him very well. I hope he's ok and happy for sure, but my point to all you now is...move on, onwards and upwards, etc. The club is NOT just Barry!!

The technical knowledge at the figertips of members is astonishing - Richard, Kieran and all should be proud of the library that's been created - it was a massive help to me for the three years I was a member.

WRD Motorsport - tireless efforts from Richy, Lors, John, Derek, and Wouter who made made big financial, physical, and emotional sacrifices to start a club-focussed technical centre. Those of us that used this as a service/repair centre know the loss. Those of us that used this as an opporunity to socialise and meet-up know the loss. Why were they not sponsored by the club?!?!? Where did all my membership funds and overpriced track sessions go? ClubVR4 missed a BIG chance there - name another club that had something even remotely like this.

Andy and Pete have given up a great deal in ensuring the club runs day-to-day. I've never heard either of them ask for anything in return for this, but their focus allows all the meets to go ahead and for all the valuable information to be readily available.

The biggest thing for me though is the social aspect of the club. It's all very well having a forum to talk about things, but having fabulously generous and enthusiastic people like Nick, Jane, Pete, Andy, Derek, and many others organise VR4-centric events for likeminded friendly people to get together either home or abroad in the way they have for the past 4 years is what made this club Full Stop!

So stop the "oh barry, barry" posts, please. He's gone (maybe), get on with it.

All the best CVR4,
James

(and no, I'm not storming off after this post!)

Nick Mann
18-12-2007, 09:23 PM
James, I understand your sentiments, but don't entirely agree with them.

There are many people who put time into the club, and not just current or past committee members. The club would not be the same if we weren't all a part of it and it is certainly not just Barry. However, if you had to choose a single person that has had the biggest influence on this place that we all enjoy then I think Barry would be the clear winner.

I whole-heartedly agree with you on the social side of things. That is why I have been organising most of the main events for the last few years. And that is the big part for me - I have made many friends through these events and hope to continue to do so for years ahead. Again, though, I feel that without Barrys input the events would not have occurred and I would not have the friends I now have.

So for me this announcement was a very sad one. I am not sorry for stating that. I am sorry if people think that I have said Barry is the only person that matters - I think there are many other key members that could leave a hole nearly as big if they left. And as you rightly said, without a combination of everybody involved this club would not be the same.

Hey

Just to let you know, Barry is absolutely fine, or so he appears to be. He is in no major strife as is quoted. He is just consumed 24/7 by his job. Knowing Barry's nature you will know just how dedicated he is to anything he starts and how distracted he gets. Nope, he is not able to multi task in the slightest!!!

He was sat there on Sunday whilst we were eating brekkie working away on the project with work on the laptop - Much to my dismay as its been going on for months now!! This should calm down after the 20th Dec deadline. Maybe he'll come back on after xmas when everything has settled with work and family - who knows :) Fingers crossed.

Take Care Guys and Girlies

Chris x:speechles

PS> I also miss him coming on here. Fortunately being his partner I speak to him all the time! He seems to be changing as does his outlook and expectations in life of people, projects and himself- I dunno, he's growing up I think. Still keeping his car tho. x
