HI there, good morning.

Just found these things, while searching for accessories for my Galant :d
I'm not sure if they are good or bad for the car, not so much for the gas savings, which I dont care, but for the other part... power increase??? cleaner engine??? any truth at all from these 2 things? thanks :)

Hi, I think it may mess something up with the sensors? I remember KiwiTT saying something about it before.

mmm. Add a restriction to your intake. Good science that...NOT.

Hi there, good afternoon.

I've been looking on internet for a while, and it looks like this FloBlade is the same thing than the Vortex one, and people are not happy with it, it just doesnt do anything at all... shame, it was too good to be true :D

The other one, it seems to be more "professional", the Petrol Magnet thingy, but is more for fuel economy than power increase, so not sure if I'll buy it :)
Thanks for the info /thankyou

You have to ask yourself with these things - why haven't the manufacturers licenced the technology to help them meet emission targets rather than use expensive, lighter materials if they work so well?

these items or very similar item have been tested on mythbusters and all they did was, vortex thingy restict air flow decrease feul eco, magnet thingy does nothing, recomendation was don't buy waste of money.
similar to power boost additives, wyns, SPT, hot shot, NOS, none of them worked accoring to a fifth gear test which was done by a university test team on a rover K serise engine. all reduced max power, yes reduced max power.

i have bought the boost additive for petrol but i will never buy again, after seeing the results of the test.

Indeed. General rule really, if it looks to good to be true, it usually is.

That said, I do have some Magic Invisible Fuel Pixies (TM) I can let you have cheap.

Manufacturers don't spend millions of whatever currency in developing systems like GDI, TSI, common rail, etc when they could achieve the same results with some cheap bit of metal like that. Which rather suggests they can't.

The one that might have some effect are the "vortex generators" that go in place between the TB and the inlet manifold. Not because of the supposed vortex, but simply by slightly increasing the volume of the plenum. Whether the effect they have is a good one or not is another matter...

"vortex thingies" are only going to work between manifold and head, and even then they're only really going to work if they extend into the head.
And then there's better ways of speeding up the air getting into the head.

That test is deeply flawed scientifically - they've not said which end of the route was higher or lower altitude, and have taken only a single data point for with and without. If you look at THIS (http://www.askisaac.com/images/petrol2.gif) image, you will see how big tank-to-tank variations of mpg are... it is only the long-term average that is meaningful.
