i looked into AP Racing but thats silly money for the amount of track time i do! if the car was only used for track days or more often like once a month i could justify it!. (£1,800 front only)

Looked into KAD 330mm with 6 pot calipers and Fer' DS2500 pads but thats still ££££££ (£1,400 front only) I would rather pay for the name above!

I am considering your suggestion re: grooved disks etc... but first....

Im hoping to upgrade the brake fluid to 5.1 or above! (stop it boiling) then use Carbon Kevlar race compound pads on the original disks!!!. :stunned:  Dont cry out!!!! because when Bonsai Boy came to the last track day at coombe we went out for 7 laps and by the the 5th lap my brakes (mits pads) had gone completely....but the disks did not "warp" and i have not developed brake judder. The pads got the the point of smoking but surprisingly the disks were unaffected...which im impressed with.

Im going to give the disks "HELL" at coombe (japfest) and see how much heat they can take....im expecting them to "warp" and if they do i'll put grooved disks on as others have.

The race pads apparently heat up quickly for normal road use (although most race pads dont!) and give no fade on the track....(i found out about them by an artical in JPM magazine, same issue as the VR4 buyers guide...think its the white Nissan 300 artical....) will post review once they arrive. cost (£117 +VAT front only)

Sounds like a good plan to me mate - and £117 + VAT is not a bad price at all is it ! ;)

If upgrading brakes the best fluid to use IMO is Motul RBF 600 - compatible with stock fluids, is ALMOST as good as Castrol SRF, which is the the ultimate, but a lot cheaper.

Friends with MR2 turbos use it and I am changing to Motul - we do track days and visits to Ring - MR2 friend who really pushes his car reports no brake problems even at Ring - he has std discs with braided hoses all round and Motul fluid

Motul can be obtained from Chris Wilson who stocks both

Recent prices and contact details below:

Motul RBF 600 :- 7.30 per 500 mls (1/2 litre) No VAT to pay.

Castrol SRF :- 41.00 per 1 litre (no 500 mls bottles available)

For all but the most serious of track days or racing, in a car with
marginal brakes, the Motul is fine. Both the above are TOTALLY different to brand name 5.1 fluids and are designed for cars with brakes worked hard on both road and track. Both mix with stock fluids. You'll need 1 litre minimum to bleed through, ideally 1.5 litres.

Carriage is around 3.50 for up to 3 bottles of Motul, or around 3 quid per bottle of SRF. By post from Chris Wilson or can be collected

Motul RBF 600 :- 7.30 per 500 mls (1/2 litre) No VAT to pay.
? £26 for 1.5 litres
