Firstly appologies for ringing my own bell but just had to put this in.

Brian with his Volvo had done 143,800 miles (yes correct number of noughts) using TSO 0w-30 with oil analysis to check that the oil and engine was well..... until the head gasket failed. If you want economical motering I reckon this chap has cracked it! http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?p=345804#post345804
, if you don't mind driving a volvo that is. Yes its running Amsoils bypass oil system and yes its running on gas but its still mighty impressive.
Could be the last day for the New Year Amsoil discounts today (or it might be tomorrow, depends on the computor , so don't hold off getting an order in if you haven't done so already.) :scholar:

The record is 406,000 in a lorry (I think) , best dig out and fit that bypass kit! Its actually even more impressive when you realise the 143,800 miles was on an engine with 125,000miles on it already (think the lorry had 250,000) and the oil didn't fail it just got contaminated by the head gasket failure!

Feck and double feck!

Thats a lot of miles! Although he does state that he replaces a litre of oil every 6000 miles so it's not all that old! Having said that, the VR4 gets through about that so potentially could have some very long lengths of time between full oil changes.
