Don't believe it can be a selling thought.

Have you hurt it?

Have you been caught by mr plod on the way back from the private test track?

enigma

Well it started when I went to visit a friend of mine to show how good the VR4 really is.........he brought his brother in law along and we went for a ride! I scared the pants off them and now they both want one. Lots of showmanship by myself and lots of revving and dumping. Then we retreated inside to chat.................

Spirit

......here it comes......

And one wants to buy your VR4 ???

....there was a fuel leak in the engine, it caught fire, blew up and took out three neighbouring houses

:-D jk

enigma
03-02-2004, 12:10 PM
Well they both decided mine was not the one to buy as recently it had perhaps allegedly had a hard life........dont know where they got that idea! ;)

Anyway it became time to go and some more showboating was expected. Helen and I said goodbye and jumped in the VR4 and I proceeded to give a demonstration of my exhaust and dump valve combo prior to executing a small launch down the road.

Engage gear, hold on the brakes to 2500rpm and..............launch.........a perfect launch apart from one minor detail.................

enigma

well...............................it is generally accepted that the perfect launch is one whereby the car grips like buggery and propels itself smoothly but powerfully in the direction that you are facing.....................

Sorry to hear that Dave. I hope that your pride has suffered more than the cars.

Is his Dad going to claim through your insurance?

Well fortunately for my car I have a towbar which protected mine from much more than some minor cosmetic surgery

Unfortunately for my mates dads car I have a towbar which makes it look rather like 350 horses have trampled on his bumper......mainly because thats about what happened :thumbsdow

I think all in all it looks worse than it is and my pride has been dented more than the cars. The wallet may take a bit of a beating as well, but that is nothing compared to the serious implications that my stupidity has had on my life at home.

Sorry Helen :scelp:

Good news is that it should all be sorted by the meet in Swindon, the bad news is that Helen no longer wants to come in the car with me..........totally understandable I guess

:dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Spirit

Dave, the main thing is that nobody was hurt of course ;)

Glad the damage was not as bad as it could have been, and I am sure Helen will calm down in a day or two. She must know your ways so she knows what you are like behind the wheel (cue crazed madman look). I am sure she was just a little embarresed more than anything and she will be taking the p*ss out of you on the 15th :-D

Dave sorry to hear about your shunt. However you may be able to help me, i have been trying to find anyone who will fit a tow bar to my 1998 Legnum but to no avail. Where did you get yours fitted? No i dont tow a caravan if anyone is wondering!!!

enigma
03-02-2004, 06:39 PM
I bought it with the tow bar on........good job really as I have no need for one and therefore wouldn't have had one fitted! Looks like a simple job though, there are 2 chassis rails that you can tie together at the back if you take the bumper off.......some nice big box settion and thats it job done!

Nick Mann

I think towbars are an excellent idea :) . Daves car does not look at all like it's hit a car hard. I remember when I was at Uni, had an old Cavalier with a towbar. Once while I was doing a three point turn I didn't see a lamp post and hit it quite hard while reversing. Stepping out of the car I was expecting the worst but was amazed to see I had it the lamp post (round type) perfectly with the end of the towbar! No damage at all :) :) :)

hhmmmmm.......the other car..........mushed!

Its not suprising though having had my car in full on launch mode plough in to it with a tow bar. Unfortunately no pics, I think they would make me cry though!!!
