Hi there, good night.

Thinking of doing this, fitting a cat back exhaust on the car, being looking online and almost everywhere else /lol
The thing is, I always thought LongLife was good, but I´ve read a few bad reviews about that place, so I asked for a quote on ProSpeed, and they quoted me on 299 included vat and all the rest of it... not bad :)

The problem being, that eBay place.... where u can see crazy stuff like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170182785934&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260197734210&rd=1

And many many more, and then u get ur head spinning /Banana
Maybe they are not the best quality exhausts ever, but they dont look too bad either, they are T-304 stainless steel w/ mandrel bend, so good enough I suppose... :inquisiti

Any ideas, places to go and check, suggestions, very much appreciated :)

The first comment I'd make is that those ebay exhausts are for the "99-03" Galant.... Now that gives them away as being for the US-Market Galant and they had a different range of engines to the UK. They are somewhat similar in their overall construction as you'd expect, but the exhaust *may* have bends in different places on the UK spec cars.

However, they look a decent bit of kit and there's more than one silencer in them - and a removable bung by the looks of things in the rear can so you can quieten it down if you need to.

Think my suggestion (if you want to go for one of these and run the risk that it might not fit) would be to have a look at the route the standard exhaust system runs on your car and compare where the bends and mounting points are against the pictures here. If they look the same and it's cheap to get it shipped to you, it might be worth it - but for safety's sake I'd budget for having the system modified to fit your car.... It's difficult looking at pictures to say if something will be a perfect fit or not. You may find that by the time it's been shipped to you it isn't much cheaper than a custom jobbie sourced over here.

The other option I know of is that Remus do a back box. Years ago now when I had my Galant GLS I was looking at one. I was having the same trouble then as you are now, finding parts is a pain!

stick with a custom system made in the uk, don't go for a US kit, it won't fit

Hi there, good night.

I have to take the car this wknd to the garage to have it serviced... I'll go below it and check the exhaust and if possible take a couple of pics.
I'll compare then with the ones in eBay and c what I can do :) if not possible to fit, I'll stick with a custom made here in UK, any other places I could check prices?
Thanks for the info and help /thankyou

i made my own one, not stainless, and that bend coming of the back box in the ebay ones, just dont look right to me personally. im sure if you supply materials and for a couple of quid, i might know of someone who can build you an exhaust

back boxes where imported from America, and my local exhaust builder made up the "Y" peice and mounted both boxes and pipe work, sounded awesome and looked amazing

Hi there, good morning.

That looks really nice from the outside :)
But I think this picture... that's a weird bend the exhaust does there...

Not sure, but couldnt have gone straight to the back box instead? I got no idea about making exhausts though, I was just looking at the picture and thought that, sorry if I've said something really stupid :scholar:

it's a custom built "duel" system, if the "Y" joint wasn't there then there would be no flow to the second back box, it worked perfect and it was a proper job. properly measured out to give the same amount of flow to each box :scholar:

still never heard a GLS sound as good as my old one :afro:
i'm sure other's might agree, then again! lol

Hi there, good afternoon.

I've got the car booked in the end with ProSpeed, for tomorrow, so I'll post after I get it done, I hope it all goes alright :)
I suppose they will know what size the pipes should be on my car, but if anyone here has any opinion/info/advice about it, I could then ask the guys there what they think about it, coz I know nothing about what should be the new diameter of the custom exhaust pipes :inquisiti
Thanks for the help /thankyou

i think the 2.0 will be a 2 inch bore, purely because my V6 is 2.5 inch bore and its slightly bigger than the 2litre, but im sure someone will correct me

a stock VR-4 is 2.25" just for the record, dunno what a V6 has, mine doesn't have a stock exhaust system

Hi there, good night.

Well, in the end I did it with ProSpeed, and I wanted to take it today to my local garage to get the car up and have a look below, but couldnt, family visit this wknd :)
Next saturday morning I'll take it again to the garage and make a few pics below, to show them here and see what you all think about it, it's always good to have different opinions /Hmmm
The thing I notice the most is the noise, even though I asked the guys in ProSpeed to make the exhaust as silent as possible, it's still a bit too noisy for my liking, I dont know if it will get less noisy with a bit of time, with more use :inquisiti
I'll have to go there next Saturday after going to my local garage, to ask them if they can do anything about it...
I'll post again with all new pics and more info next wknd :)

Yeah, give it a week or two.... My Blitz system was *incredibly* noisy untill it had been used for a bit and got a layer of soot on it. Same with our Golf - they need a couple of weeks to "bed in" (for want of a better phrase) before you get a true indication of how noisy they are.
