Me and two of my friends own BMWs, namely, 323 (mine) T reg, 525D 53 reg and a recently purchased Z4 54 reg. I usually drive my V6 Elegance and from time to time do some accelerations against my mates 525D. Apparently his being a diesel he has got more torque however I do catch up with him usually, especially at high revs. Now with the Z4 (2.2 Litre engine) in the contest, I was almost sure that my V6 will not be able to compete in terms of performance, so I did a bit of research and came out with the following:

Car Engine BHP 0-60 Torque Weight MPG
Z4 2.2 straight 167 7.5 210 1250 32
323 2.5 straight 170 8.7 245 1485 31
525D 2.5 straight 163 8.8 350 1680 34
Galant 2.5 V6 158 7.9 218 1325 31

Or view the table on http://www.right-call.co.uk/Galant_vs_BMWs.htm

In turns out to be that the Galant V6 is the slowest in terms of peak BHP, however due to the engines torque and car weight, the V6 comes second in 0-60 acceleration, and is infact just 0.4 seconds slower than the Z4, am quite amazed!

The Galant has the looks, the performance and is a great value for money!

I bet that if you really rung the nuts off the V6 you'd be able to keep up with the Z4 as well.

Is your V6 an auto or a manual?

Am up for it :)

Mine is a manual and so is the Z4.

To be fair, Neither myself nor Ian had the power to take on the 328 - He was easily quicker than us....

But then, on this particular day our wingmen were (at that time, and it was a quite a while ago now!!) the fastest VR-4s in the UK! /Devil5 /Devil5

Indeed you would sir! Everybody know the millions spent by F1 teams are just to make their cars look different.
