Hi all,

This is my first post on here only had my VR4 for a few months.

I've had a new cat back fitted and air intake and have noticed a diffrence in performance i feel a tune up is in need.

I would really appreciate any advise on this.

and I'll be putting her in for a service at my local jap approved garage is there anything in particular that should be paid special attention too i should know about.

Thanks all for looking.

Hi and welcome to the world of posting...

I am sure that some of our more knowledgeable members will be around I am sure in a bit and will be able to give you more of an idea on tuning etc.

Where abouts in the UK are you? If you don't mind me asking.

Only it may be worth you having a chat with the Eurospec boys and see it they can help you at all.

Yeah Eurospec are a good place, but any place that specialises in EVO's should be good, quite a bit of the drivetrain including the AYC rear diff carries over from an EVO

3 fluid sysems for the AYC (rear diff) - at least 2 should be changed regularly.

An air intake can hurt performance unless you get plenty of cold air to it - the VR4 engine bay is a toasty place!

Any piggy back can do the job, married with a boost controller you will be laughing! You will want to search the site on fuel cut whilst researching, though, as that can hold you back. Sort the fuel cut, get it mapped and 300-320 bhp should be well within reach.

Hi guys

Thanks you for the replies nice bit of info there,

I have had a quick look at the Eurospec website, thanks for the tip on them.

I'm in aylesbury in bucks so guildford isn't a million miles away.

I had a Galant v6 24 prior to the legnum and have used my local garage
D.S.Automotive for that and they are quite good with there servicing but not sure how they rate with the legnum and tuning.

also thaks for the info on the ayc, yes i thought there was regular changes needed for that, how regular would you recommend?

thats real nice to get these replies guys still trying to get as much info as possible.

I'll try and work out at some point how to get a pic on here of her.

Thanks again.

The Mitsubishi servicing intervals for the AYC are every 4,500 miles for the two ATF fluids, and every 45,000 miles for the rear diff gear oil.

I personally think that 45,000 miles for the diff oil is too long. 4,500 may be too short for the ATF, but these little beggars are expensive if you break 'em!

I would say that the VR4 is quite a different beast to the V6 from many ways, including the servicing. For peace of mind, if I didn't do it myself, I'd give it to someone I knew understood the systems.

Hi & welcome!
I am just up the way from you ( MK) and i have spoken to the guys at www.stevehillmotorsport.com on the outskirts of Aylesbury , asking
for advice before buying my vR4.
I was recommended to them because the owner ( steve hill !!!!!) has raced & uprated Evos 4 years, and as the AYC etc are taken from the Evo 4/5, they would know what they are doing!
Since getting the car, i had WRD do the main AMSOIL fluid bits & the local dealer do the brakes, but now my local dealer has become Nissan, and WRD are no more ,they will be my next Port Of Call for specialist service!

if you beat me to them, let us all know how things go !!

Hi and welcome to the club.

I am also in Aylesbury - there is one other legnum that I know of here and its silver, is this yours?

I can't recommend Steve Hill Motorsport after I had a very bad experience with them. It ended up with my car being badly dented and off the road for a few weeks.

DS Automotives did my last oil service and they do know of the existence of the Legnum.

I was pleased overall with their service, however I supplied Amsoil to them and I think they put an additive in it cos my lash adjusters are sooo noisy now!!
They were very quiet on Amsoil before. /pan

Hi dogwagon and Tar,

Thanks for the info on stevehill I have contacted them in the past but they didn't seem to interested perhaps i just got the wrong person,

and dsa have been ok for me in the past with my galant v6 but everytime they serviced it they said the engine is a little tappy and we have added an engine flush, now in my opinion everytime i got the car back it seemed a little louder than it was before.

I'm not the most mechanicly minded and have not heard of amsoil (hence my stupid questions on here lol) but since having the legnum have felt the urge to fiddle a little and get a bit more of a knowledge on it.

and as for this silver legnum tar lol yes that could very well be me, I have seen only one other in town which is also silver I guess that is you lol.

Thanks again everyone.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but wanted to share my experiance with Steve Hill Motorsport. I took my car there yesterday to get the AYC and rear diff oil changed and I couldn't have been happier with them. Very helpfull and friendly service. The cost with me supplying the oil was £50 for 3/4 hours labour. I will almost certainly be taking my car there come the next 4500 miles.
