Just a wondering question...

What other cars did Mitsubishi fit its 6A13 2.5ltr engines in...?

I take it the VR4 2.5 was known as the 6A13TT (for twin turbo)..?

Yes the TT means 2 blowers.

I dont think it was fitted to anything other than the galant I might be wrong tho.

nope not fitted anywhere else , hence the issue with getting performance parts as it is a very limited market , compared to say the 4g63

Fine engines those 4g63 - lasted at least 180k miles in my old Galant without a squeek... wherever she is now!

6A13 was also used in the Diamante. 6A13TT was only used in the VR4.

Isaac, as far as I know there were a few (less than 10) 6A13 DOHC engines made for Diamantes, but the production models ended up with 6G73 2.5l engines. I don't beleive any were mass produced with 6A13 engines

Diamante 25V-SE and Diamante Espada in 2002 were 6A13 powered in Japan, chassis code F34A.

hmm interesting i wonder if it would help looking for "Diamante Espada " engine mods , might churn up some fresh results/Hmmm
it is a shame tho i wonder how much power you can get out of our 6a13 ...i mean if they can squeeze over 400bhp+ out of a 4g63...

imagine the power:evil2:

I doubt it... Big luxobarges aren't generally tuner's choice.

That's very different. The 4G63 is a cast iron block, and then everything else was changed from the basic 4G63 to an FQ400 4G63T. For example, there's very few mods for 4G63 galant 2.0s because they're the N/A SOHC 4G63. Anyway, the block is very strong, and can tolerate overbores etc too, whereas the aluminium 6A13 is much trickier.

The evo engines with big power are running forged internals and large turbos. You can do that with a 6A13TT too, but it will potentially cost a LOT more. No off-the-shelf upgrades means that you either pay people lots of money for one-off builds, or you spend a long time researching other options.

Isaac, were they still sohc motors? How much power and torque did they have?

Brad - same as the Galants. SOHC, 169PS @ 5500, 225Nm @ 4500.

here is something interesting:

http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/legnum/1996_8/19625/
http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/diamante/2002_10/16703/

Note the differences between the engines:

Legnum:
175ps, 230nm, regular fuel (in japan 93-94 octane), 9:1 compression, not LEV

Diamante:
170ps, 225nm, premium fuel (100 octane), 9.5:1 compression, and it is an LEV

After 6 years they managed to increase the compression and change to premium, which should have given it more power, but the need to make it an LEV actually made it make less power!

The 30M is the best though http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/diamante/1995_1/16767/

I'd prefer a 200kw mivec 3.0 v6 :)

Even if you wouldn't be able to get traction until 3rd gear :D
