Hey Guys,

Wondered if anyone has any comments or ideas?

I park my car on a slight incline every night , then each morning I reverse off of the driveway , put the car into "d" then pull forward. When I get to about 10 mph I get a clunk noise (just once) , then I drive all the way to work with no probs or noises.

On the way home from work I drive and never have a problem. I also reverse in the day whilst driving around and do not get this noise.

Any ideas what it could be??

Sounds a bit like a sticky disc caliper

thats what i thought, but bare in mind it doesn't happen til im doing about 10/15. and ive also reversed off of the drive by this point.

All i know is its gonna be one of those jobs thats hard to replicate!

Does it coincide with the shift to second?

Sound like the hand brake sticking. Because you park on a slope at home you will pull the hand brake that little bit harder.

Thats what I was kinda hoping it will be!

I guess problem is I can't investigate it really? Cos i'll never get the hub off if the handbrake is stuck to the inside?

Drive it till it clunck's then investigate.

I've got the same problem here. I assumed it was stuffed rear pads so I went down to pitstop (NZ chain of Brake and Exhaust specialists) and I mentioned it to the guy.

He immediately said that Leggies are renouned for it and said it has nothing to do with the pads or callipers.

He said he's seen the handbrake cables on these things 'stick' inside their sheathing alot.

I've actually got my wheels off looking for a solution. (I came in here to find a solution!)

Does any one know if the handbrake cables have grease nipples any where along the line?

Try not putting the handbrake on one night and then see if you get the clunk in the morning

Yep i did that... and it didnt clunk. So i'm 99% sure its the handbrake. Just not sure which part is sticking.

Rather than spend time solving the problem, iv just left the car in park for the last few nights!
