Someone will probably know this straight away. I have searched through the threads, people have said to use evo lines, evo 7 ones are a bit longer so are better. Well I'm fitting evo 6 brembos to a facelift vr-4 estate, will E7 one's fit on the E6 calipers? As looking on camskill's website E5&6 and E7,8&9 lines are two different types, links are below.

If you are getting rear Evo brembos, the hoses are different to the VR4 fitting. The front hoses are the same fitting, but just need to be slightly longer IIRC.

But as said, Exact have supplied many alternatives for many VR4s with brake upgrades, so should be able to help!

Yeah, I'm getting them all round, I'll have a word with them tomorrow. Cheers.

Er.... John, I think that number might be incorrect? Give it a ring, a recorded message, made me laugh!

Hmm, I put E7's on mine and didn't need to change any hoses. A couple of copper washers and that was it.

With a little search I found it, 01803866464. £47.25 for the lines, £2 for red shrink wrap, and then postage and VAT. Not bad. One thing he did ask which I was unsure of, is the pre and post facelift cables any different?

Nope.

Coolio!

Does anyone know where that thread is for reconditioning brembo brakes, I've seen it somewhere, a step by step guide to stripping them down and respraying etc. I'm sure it was on here but I'm searching MLR too.

So evo 8 rear brakes lines won't fit then?
If getting some lines made what would I ask the rear fitting to be?

evo caliper and vr4 hose

I understand this for the fronts, but not the rears? The rears were a completely different fitting on mine? My rear Brembos need a banjo fitting, but my VR4 calipers didn't. That is a fundamental mis-match that doesn't solve itself!

My advice is VR4 front hoses, Evo rears.

correct,

you can force the NPT vr4 rears into the brembos, but i wouldnt recommend it,
they should be used with banjo bolt setup.

i have vr4 lines up front, and evo6 lines in the rear.

These are mine, I got them in red, they're not pink like the pictures make them look. I just phoned exact engineering on 01803866464 and told them I had evo 6 calipers and a VR4, they did the rest.

OK just to clear this up for myself, I took in a set of evo 8 hoses to a hydraulic shop and want them to make front and rear braded ones for my brembo upgrade on the VR4.

So they need to copy the front and rear evo 8 lengths, but can someone confirm which particular hose connection needs to be changed when they make them up.
So if the copy the evo 8 front it will be fine?
But tell them not to copy the evo 8 rear fittings just the length. and to put on evo 6 fittings if they look up the fitting type on there system.

(evo8 fitting?)....[VR4 end-Front Hose-Brembo end]....(evo8fitting?)

(evo8 or VR4/evo6 fitting?)....[VR4 end-Rear Hose-Brembo end]....(evo8 or VR4/evo6 fitting?)

Hope that makes sense

The front hose needs to be the same as the VR4 hose. Length and fitting should be okay, but making the hose slightly longer may be a help. (10-20mm max)

The rear hose needs to be the same as the Evo hose.

Got my lines all installed and got all 4 brake lines made for under AU$200.

this thread is still rather confusing, perhaps we could revisit this, clear it up and sticky it?

For a brembo conversion on either pre/post facelift,

evo 8 lines at the rear will fit ..
evo 8 lines at the front will not?????
if not, what is the problem with front evo 8 lines?

It'd be good to clear up, since you easily get legal goodridge braided lines in a full set for under $200NZD

One not so related question, are the evo 6 / 7 / 8 lines different from one another?

Nick Mann

I think evo 8 lines will fit at the front too. The simple way to be certain is to check the length of your lines at the moment and then check the length of the Evo 8 lines. The fittings are the same on the VR4 stock caliper and the Brembo at the front.

So if I buy a set of upgraded lines for evo Brembo's, will they not fit with the brembo's when they go on?

Just to be clear:

Obviously, the caliper fitting is the same (since the brembos came from an evo, and the lines come from an evo).

And the other end of the hose (chassis end) is also the same.

Length is the only issue. which I will check since I am stripping some brembos for recoating at the moment.

Nick Mann

Yes. The chassis end is completely compatable, regardless of front/back/prefacelift/postfacelift VR4/evo. The front calipers have the same banjo bolt fitting on all VR4s and evo brembos. The only difference is on the rears, where the evo brembos need a banjo fitting and the VR4 does not use one.

There is a length change issue I'm sure, but I can't remember which way round it is. It may be that the Brembos need slightly longer hoses than the VR4, but the Evo's hoses are already slightly longer, so are good for the job? But I can't remember the details. I just phoned exact egineering and asked for lines to fit my combination!

My dad made the ones for __ET__. If you want to use the banjo fitting into the brembos (obviously recommended) then you need to have extra length to accomodate the turn in the hose.

If you don't use a banjo fitting, then you don't need the extra length. In fact, you can run the brembos on the stock lines, but you'll have a poor pedal feel.

So..... on the rear, simply using evo lines works? Which would be the longer 7-9 ones?

Gly told me a while ago, he has evo 6 lines on the rear of his car. I need to measure up the front lines and find out the length of evo6 front lines.

Kenneth

Evo 6 front lines are borderline too short (I have some)

They will not fit into the standard bracket as they are both too short and the holder (the metal bit actually on the brake line) is reversed.

I reckon you need another 50mm-100mm of length in the line as well.

I'm still only part way through doing mine. They're all sanded down ready to paint, just a case of having too much other stuff that needs doing first!

Oh, and definitely go with the Exact Engineering hoses. See here for details:

not interested in exact's hoses. they are in the UK... and the UK have silly prices.
