Next to our two 6G Galant GTI's and the 8G VR2, we have bought a real VR4: a 1998 Legnum with 99900 km's run.

It's in Sofia White, auto-transmission, 17" wheels and it has a 3" catback exhaust.

Things to do after it is shipped over from Japan (in about 10 weeks from now):

- AMSoil all fluids
- check the brakes (and upgrade if needed)
- change the reflectors in the headlights
- get rid of the orange pieces in the headlights
- change the orange side indicators to clear ones
- do the ECU speed de-limiter thing as described on the topic
- change that AWFULL steeringwheel back to an original leather one
- installing the PS-IIda downpipe that didn't fit my VR-2
- add a boost controller
- try to get hold of the missing little front spoiler piece
- have another set of SLM oilpressure, oiltemp and turboboost meters
- have the seats and all that is not black done in black leather
- change the stereo to another better suiting (black) Pioneer 2DIN unit (like in my VR2)
- try to find a good set of stainless Legnum door sills
- probably upgrade all speakers to Hertz HSK165

nice work :) It will handle and corner a lot better than the VR-2, but I think the VR2 will have a higher top speed.

Thanks all! (now we'll need to learn how to drive on the 'wrong' side ;)

@beastlee: actually, a couple of months ago I did... Together with my good friend and fellow ClubVR4 forum member Mark (dutch driver) we started a dutch Galant forum (www.galantfans.nl) which is growing by the day! Just 3 months and over 60 members. Unfortunately there aren't that many performance Galants in Holland, so for that, I'll stay right here and join the fun!

@bradc: I thinks so too. But what I actually am most curious about is how they are against each other at take off when it's dry... When it's wet the Legnum should win easily, but on a dry day, the VR2 with it's more powerfull, lowered, stiffer, 225 tyres VR2 (and 200/250kg's? lighter!) will have a good chance I think.

not to 60kmh, try this on the Leggie - leave it in Drive, stomp on the brake, take the engine up to about 2500rpm keeping the car still, then lift off the brake and floor the throttle. There is no way a 2wd car will ever keep up with that!

Can't wait to try!!! Never lost a traffic light race, but then again, might not have had competition from the right cars/drivers (or they don't expect a quite normal looking Galant to be fast).

Good looking car - cool colour.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Do you have any complicated import rules to navigate in order to register it?

@tar: don't know yet, but it will be taken care of for me for most part, and these guys do this all the time, so I don't expect much problems.

I'll have to be patient for 10 weeks to gt the car in Holland and then another 5-6 weeks before all official business is taken care of though...

Mark,

I was in Holland twice over the weekend. We passed through on the way back from the UK and we visited Venlo on Sunday, all this in the new Mini though.
D omany of the guys/girls on the Dutch forum speak English? I'm afraid my Dutch isn't great but I'd like ot join the forum as it may have benefis for me being on the continent.

@beastlee: almost everybody here can speak and write english and most (some) german and/or french too. This ofcourse has to do with us Dutch being with so little... (alhough crowded enough here!), so we actually need to learn a couple of languages otherwise we would be pretty isolated ;) (or restricted to talking to people in Suriname, the Dutch Antilles, South Africa or a few old Indonesians).

So: no problem at all! Please be welcome!

EDIT: btw... you can use Babelfish to translate any dutch website into english (http://babelfish.altavista.com/).

@dickies: I think it came straight off a sailboat or something, or once it might even have been part on the ghostship "the flying dutchman"... (now trying to get backk 'home')

And as said before, it will be immediatly changed over for an original leather one!
