Does any body know if a 2.4 gdi facelift engine and 5speed auto box 4wd will bolt straight into a non facelift 97 gdi legnum as it had a 1800cc engine and 4 speed auto box 2wd in it.

cheers

engine i would say yes along with the ecu. trans i dont know. it would take abit of work to makeit 2wd id imagine and would bee too much work to make your current car 4wd. you would need rear diff, subframe etc. but someone else will prob know more

Can you run the 4wd box but only have it driving the front wheels or is there more to it.

cheers

there is the transfercase which is bolted straight to the back of the trans. you remove the drive shaft and all the oil will piss out of it. i have never really looked at it to see if you can remove the transfer case and modiy it but id say no. but as i say, someone else will know

Sounds like hassles, hassles = $$$

Not too sure why your looking to do it, but if it was me, id do what carsten or i did, and by a VR4 and swap whatever bits you want to keep to the new car, im positive its cheaper and better in the long run.

Other than as an engineering project i doubt an engine swap is going to give you bang for buck, especially with the VR prices the way they are at the moment, the price gap between the turbo and non turbos seems to be closing.

totally agree mike. want power, buy a vr4. im just assuming his 1.8 has blowen up or something. if not buy a vr4, or a str if you cant get insurance or whatever

Where would you put the propshaft to the rear wheels? :inquisiti
Too much work, and why a 2.4? Put a 6A13TT in there!!!
