Hi All :)

First post here.

I've just inherited my dad's Galant GLS auto (ok so not a VR4, but I do also own an Evo III GSR! :D ) and it has some sort of alarm/immobiliser issue. I'm not sure of the specifics yet, only that it was "playing up", so a garage that worked on it previously turned it off.

It was taken to local Mitsi dealer yesterday for full service etc, and they were asked to look at the alarm/immobiliser. They said "it's not a Mitsubishi alarm system, so we can't help you with it"...

My dad doesn't know what type of alarm it is. I had a sneaking suspicion that it might be a Cobra alarm, as I know Mitsi have them fitted to the later Evos as standard.

Now, I've had a look inside the fob, and the only discernable info are these characters:

3T7777B1G
99562

Sure enough, a quick Google seems to associate the 3T7777B1G with some sort of Cobra alarm. However, I can't seem to figure out which model this relates to. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Any manuals etc would be greatly appreciated, so I can have a go at resetting it, see if that makes any difference. Failing that, at least I will be able to tell the auto electrician what he's looking at when I get round to it haha! :)

Thanks in advance

Dave

Mitsy standard fit was a cobra system re-badged as a mitsy system. Is your fob black, teardrop shape, two grey buttons and a grey rubber stem to the ring? If so, I would go back to mitsy and ask them why they think it isn't standard fit.

oh, and /Welcome!

What year Galant is it, dem0n...?

Welcome alone by the way!

Don't wory about not having a VR4 - we're a friendly bunch here and many of us haven't got VR4s - I'm an 2003 Galant 2.5 Elegance!

Looking at the standard fit Cobra's to Galants - they were billed as Mitsubishi units with their own model numbers, despite being Cobra.

My Elegance has an Optimum HF 3 (part number SP029742)...

Some cars have the Optimum HF 2 (part numberSP029601/4/5)

There is a Cobra alarm manual in the members' section of the Club VR-4 website. This, and a whole heap of other information, is available to paid-up members. Annual membership costs just £20 - I have recently joined and don't regret spending a single penny of that. I would have paid twice as much! (Note to committee - please don't increase the membership fee now I've said that...).

Plus, the club is like a family. It's a great place to be!

Have a look at my post from here:

Also, the alarm box on mine is fitted behind the left hand kick panel.

The post suggests two model and I cant remember now what mine is but I think its the 6422 model.

Anyway, the model number is on the box behind the panel.
