As some of you know, today was my very first track day (with the exception of Santa Pod).
Well, firstly the car survived in one piece with just some scrubbed up front tyres, no damage :-D
Second, the car handled brilliantly - once I built my confidence up and knew the limit on the corners and braking points I was well away, just amazed how she coped. I had several passengers who rode with me and other cars like Skylines and Supra TT and the all said mine seemed as quick but a lot smoother :-D
Third, would I do it again? Damn right - this is what the VR4 is all about ;)
The other cars were 2 x MR2's, Skyline GTR, Skyline GTS, Impreza WRX, Nissan 200SX, Supra TT. The orgainsers told us at the briefing that they would not be timing the event but we found out later on that they actually were and just wanted to ensure we did not push too hard. Well everyone did push hard anyhow :-D During the day they laid out 4 different track set ups and you went on as much as you wanted for 5 laps at a time.
The organisers did not show us the times at all but did confirm the Nissan 200 won ALL 4 tracks (he sure knew how to handle the car and actually turned up with his dad in a support car and changed his wheels/tyres at the event......not that he'd done it before ;) ) - I think I did quite well and definately came 2nd on the last track of the day.....I will post the times when the organisers email them to us.
The exhaust sounded brill on the videos we shot (will post link once edited) and several people came up to ask me what the f**k is it, let me see :-D One spectator asked to see all over the car and sit in it as he imports Jap cars and was so impressed he is going to get one or two in :-D
Had a great time and can't wait for Japfest now - and I would love us to organise a club event here - it's £50 per person and min. 6 cars and max. 10 if anyone would be interested. I got 10 goes for my £50 and was well chuffed - a second driver for your car is only another £10 too.
Anyhow, until the videos are ready here are a few pics of the day coming up ;)
