I've seen it happen, but only when pushing the car really hard. I would say it is possibly indicating a problem

Check tyre pressures. Then check shocks. With bad shocks, if I hit bumps whilst braking then the AYC sometimes flickered.

Unless it was just a slippy bit of road?

Sometimes I get the AYC flick under braking, normally if braking whilst turning sharply or if I run over a manhole cover or something similar.

Guys, AYC should definitely come on during braking: it's just trying to keep the rear wheels rotating at the same rate. Roads aren't perfect, so braking hard (nose on windscreen hard) should almost definitely provoke some small response. Mistubishi tell you AYC helps with braking.
Definitely braking with the wheel turned will give you some AYC goodness. And if you get the tail out, then dab the brakes, you'll get 3 lights immediately while it tries to work out what the heck it should be doing! LOL
