/help Hmmm,

A cyclist ran into the back of the leggy yesterday and cracked the rear passenger side tail lamp lens (1997).

Don't suppose any of the good citizens here have one o' these lying around in a box somewhere with enough stamps to get to Dublin and my address on it???

Try Mo (zedy1) - from what I've seen on here, he has everything!

I couldn't really give out to the cyclist.
A taxi driver cut me off so i braked hard.
Knowing i had stopped a bit sharpish i looked in the rear-view to see if anything was about to hit me. I hear an "Ahh!!", then hear a thud & smash.

The only other option he had really was to fall sooner or hit into the back of a parked car. Of course I'd of preferred either of those.

Whilst I commend your compassion I would have got their details and insisted they pay. If you had been travelling too close to be able to stop you would have been liable for damage to anything you hit and for points and a fine if the Police got involved. What's more the cyclist needs to learn not to travel so close!

Ya,
Of course I thought about that, but this guys a cyclist...

Now I've had run-ins with insurance companies b4 and I can honestly say that they've managed to piss me off 9 out of 10 times i've had to deal with them. And all the while I was insisting that I wouldn't let them get to me.

If he got MY details and lodged a claim against ME, lets just say I don't trust that somehow I wouldn't come out worse for wear.

I used to be a cyclist and I will be again soon to commute but I have to say that I get annoyed at the fact they use the roads that we pay for and do not have to have insurance despite the expensive damage they can easily cause.
As long is the outcome is something your happy with that's what counts.

:-) Not that I'm happy with it, just saying I could have ended up a bit worse.

Like knowing when to fold in poker, you don't really know if you made the right move or not.

I've emailed Mo anyway - hopefully I'll have it back tip top in no time

There are some doing the rounds on eBay from one seller... here's just one of the lights on sale... They are also breaking an estate so perhaps they'll have your part among the other auctions :

Just bought a door mirror from the Perth breakers. The estate was on the ramp being stripped when i was there. Looked in reasonable condition.

How the f%ยค# could this cyclist kill light on the tailgate, but not on the body?!

I would recommend that you buy both, unless you are there with your car to colour match. Some tail lamps have a different tint, and it's obvious if the cars are parked next to each other, so I'm sure it is obvious if they are on the same car.

I have to agree with Nick, I've seen one with odd coloured tail lamps and it is very obvious.
Whilst working on mine yesterday I found someone has cracked the passenger side corner of the rear bumper, there's no scratches though so must have been a direct impact. Mind you it's been rebuilt once before as you can see the distortions and the bit where a fibreglass patch has been applied.
