Hi all,

Thought I would introduce myself. I'm Lee from Adelaide, South Australia (Australia, duh!). Presently in the process of importing my 1997 Legnum from Japan using a local import broker, Kristian of Iron Chef Imports (shameless plug!)

The car is presently on the car carrier on its way to oz, so while I wait, here are some details. Its a 1997 COTY model Legnum, 77,000kms, 5sp tip tronic (dont think COTY came manual?) White with Black Leather, Grade 4, and 17" alloys. Wheels have a bit of gutter rash so will either get them powder coated or may even replace with 18's. Will wait and see when the car arrives.

So now the wait continues, Im hoping to have the car in my driveway by mid April, but time will tell.

Here she is:

Nice car!

The last forum member who tried to import a COTY failed when it went to the bottom of the sea when the container ship it was on sank...... I hope that doen't worry you too much!

I don't know much about the COTY version, but I think evey one I have seen is a white Legnum? I'm looking forward to hearing more about it, and seenig more photos!

Oh, and /Welcome

coty models were a limited release (but I don't know how many they made) of Legnum VR-4's and Galant GDI's that were supposed to showcase all of the features that Mitsi had. I don't know much about the Galant GDI's they made, other than that they had black leather, tiptronic gearbox and 4wd, but for the Legnums:

As I said above they were trying to showcase everything. Hence they only came in Tiptronic, with ASC, TCL and AYC. Also obviously had the rare black leather, and the coty badging on them. I haven't seen one with a sunroof, but I don't know if this was an option or not. The only other thing was that they had polished 16x6" standard prefacelift wheels.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and thanks for clearing that up Brad.

Just to add, Kristian also said that all COTY models where white (no other color options).

Hi and welcome to the club.

Your car looks real nice, I hope the wait isn't to long.

Lots of us UK people lust after the black leather trim, all we seem to get is beige!
