Anyone know where I can get a Ralliart perfomance panel filter for my stock air box? Or can you suggest some alternatives - would prefer not to get an oiled filter like the K&N, but would like a resuable filter.

This is what I mean:

Call Bill and tell him I sent you

Yes I shall do that. I was reading a thread on here where someone said Ralliart NZ uses K&N or some other brand in their cars, so I assumed they may not stock their own filters.

just to confirm from bill @ ralliart.

Hello
Regards to your air filter I would have to order it from Japan, it will take 4
to 6 weeks to get here. You are looking at $112.50 including freight and
GST. Let me know if you would like to order one, if yes I would need a 50%
deposit.
Thanks Bill

Am still waiting for a reply from my email to Mexted Motors. It is a lot for just a piece of foam in a rubber frame, but anyway, I reckon I'll probably get it.

Got the following back from Mexted Motors:

This part has never been stocked in NZ, so I have requested price and availability from Japan. This may take 2-3 days, but as soon as I hear back, I will be in touch.
Receiving stock from Japan usually takes 10-15 working days in most cases.

Thanks for your enquiry.

For 6 of them, he will give us a discount, dunno how much yet but he will get back to me.

In the mean time, can we have confirmed orders for them? I'll get everyone to put them into my bank account, then walk down the road to Bill and give him cash. I'm guessing the final price will be in the $90-100 range.

Sounds like there are 3 people here interested, and I'll get one for the ST-R, so that gives us 4?

Hmmm, I wonder how it compares with my K&N.

the ralliart foam filter is dry, so no oiling. It comprises of 3 layers of different density foam which I assume progressively filters the air.

If you are keen to take a look at one, I have one in the Legnum you can come take a look at.

I did read with interest Bernmc's article on K&N filters... I imagine that the K&N would have a higher flow rate than the Ralliart, perhaps at the cost of filtration efficiency?

I noticed that the throttle responded faster once I had installed the K&N. Ideally I'd like a compromise between the two which I think the Ralliart filter might offer. That said, I've already spent $170 on the K&N and would be loathe to replace it.

I'd be happy to have a look at your filter though :)

Brad,

Count me in too........provided it doesn't end up more than about $120.

It's likely (going by the speed of past progress with my mods), that it'll be awhile till I get my cold-air box made, so I'll need a replacement panel filter in the meantime.

The wait time till they are here is not a problem.

That cool...............:pimp2:

So it's rocketed up that much since the exchange rate plummeted for NZ and AUS? Ouch. I'm in the need for a replacement soon!

Can't say I ever noticed any difference in my car. Before putting the Ralliart filter in I had a newish FRAM paper filter from Supercheap. I wonder if those people who noticed the difference hadn't changed their filters in a while? Also my car is stock - I guess if I was running higher boost I might have noticed more of an improvement?
