For all the car cleaning bods out there :)

I was contacted by Matt, proud owner of a '99 plate 406 coupe in blue.
He wanted me to see how good I could get the car looking.

I duly asked for it over a weekend learning from my last detail that I would need all that time to be happy with it.

First off was quick wash down using TBM and AG BSC.

Then onto removing the wheels.

Multiple hits of Bilberry wheel cleaner and AG ITR.

then onto the arches

Forgot to take pics of the drivers side but much the same.
Process was soak with APC agitate then dress with W.A.C. Vinyl Dressing.

The 4 whels and 4 arches took me 6 hrs. with around 1+hr spent on each wheel.

Moved down to the unit to start machine polishing.

Example of defects.

After multiple hits of Megs #83 on a Sonus cutting pad

Still quite a few RIDS left but I didnt want to go too far without the use of a PTG. (Really must invest in one before my next detail)

I then proceeded to go round the whole car with that combo. No more process pics I'm afraid because I forgot to take my camera to the unit on Sunday.

Whole car was given the Megs #7 glaze treatment then a coat of P21's wax.

I also did all the door shuts, boot shuts and a quick once over of the engine bay but forgot to take pics of those bits .

Some general afters this morning after the car had driven about 20 miles.

Nice But

Nice one....looks stunning. I've seen rids mentioned before on the detailing world forum, what are they? sorry for being thick.

I'm looking at getting a PC in the near future, just working out which way to go, Megs 220, UDM or PC2474 IIRC. My MX has got horrible swirls and the Leggy could do with a touch as well.

Hmmm - Now that the Megs 220 is out, I think (excuse the pun) that the Porter cable 7424 has lost its shine - The 220 is supposed to be quieter and it's 240V compatible off the bat - No faffing with 110V contractor power supplies.

That said I swear by my 7424. If I were to criticise it I would cite the noise and vibration it makes - but then it's built to last, not to be quiet!

And RIDS? I'm leaning towards the 220 but I will use whatever on our boat when we get it next year so maybe 110V might be safer........ polishing a yacht with 240v a foot off the water........Bzzzzzz scary hair comes to mind.

Dilemma /pan

RIDS... in my world are Rules In Database Systems, my Brother in law would insist that is a Runway Ice Detection System..... but I think in Mu's gleaming world they are Random Isolated Deep Scratches
