For anyone who's interested. These are ATM's that have been sent to us for servicing. We do repairs, installation and general support.

They are Wincor Nixdorf machines and also worked on them when I was in South Africa - the guy who came out from Paderborn to instruct us was amazed when he saw that we still made Golf Mk I shape (Citi Golf etc).

Anyway - the electro mechanics inside are amazing, a collection of gears, pressure sensors, photo sensors, reflecting prisms, circuit boards etc.

Being German machines everything has been thought out and engineered to a very high standard.

Oh if anyone's curious about how much they weigh - about 800kg :)

How much money is contained with depends on the location of the machine.

Each cassette (thing that holds the money) holds a maximum of 3000 notes. There are no weak points.

It is enclosed by 10mm of tempered steel. There are also multiple intrusion detection systems which I cannot divulge the details of for obvious reasons ;)

Hahaha - they can be nightmarish too! The setup and configuration of them is quite tricky and long winded. Especially when loading keysets for the encrypted pin pad.
