WTB: Mitsubishi Double DIN Stereo/Radio cage

I want to start the installation of my old Clarion radio but someone has removed the old cage and fitted the kenwood cage directly to the facia. I am now looking for a replacement cage as fitted to the double DIN dashes in any Galant or Legnum.

Can anyone help please?

no I think it's the brackets that bolt to radio on each side the to the bulk head area????

It's the little carrier piece that comes with the car. It sits behind the facia and bolts into the bulkhead. I think Steve knows what I mean.

Was you old Kenwood a double din? If you still have the plastic tray underneath the stereo, then you must still have the fitting plates for the stereo, even if they aren't being used.

Nope the Kenwood is single DIN and the plastic under tray is just wedged in. It's very frustrating. If you look at the pic below it's the frame that the plastic tray is sat in :

It's the metal cradle that the stereo cage is fitted into that you're after isn't it? The cradle is bolted to the centre console. Hmmm.... I do have such a cradle, but the problem is that it's for an MMCS system. Somewhere I might have the original (my Legnum wasn't fitted with an MMCS in the factory). I'll have a rummage about next time I'm in the garage.:inquisiti

If it's the metal frame that comes standard with 2DIN headunits (like on the ebay link shows that WODJNO posted): I have one for you if you want. It came with my Pioneer AVIC-HD3BT but I bolted the Pioneer straight onto the Mitsu side brackets (which also fits the HU better and makes it much harder to get it out).

I can bring it saturday if you like.

Mark, thanks for the offer but it's the actual Mitsubishi carrier that comes with the car. I actually swapped to the Clarion HU today in anticipation of the show on Saturday and I have had to fit the cage to the facia.

The cage is actually bolted in to the back of the centre console and you bolt a HU into it directly, so no HU supplied cage is needed.

Its a standard fit on all 8g galants and leggies , even uk ones, id be suprised if noone has one
