Firstly must say top site, I have gleened a wealth of knowledge from this site all ready and anyone toying with paying the £20 membership fee, get your hand in your pocket, it will save you a fortune in the long run.

As you can see from my title I am on the Isle of man, road racing capital of the world ! Well for bikes anyway. Any other members with a vr4 on the Island ?would be nice to meet up.

Just got Legnum at Easter from WS Imports, N Yorks. Nice fellas and so far car is running impecably, really really pleased with it, makes me wish my drive to work was a bit longer, 6 mile round trip isn't doing it justice ! Still always got the TT course to go at, no speed limit over the montain section. /rally
Car has got its manx vehicle registration test on friday, hopefully will be ok. Was bought as uk registered, UK MOT certificate is only 3 weeks old. Dont think the manx test differs much to uk MOT.
The good thing is there is no yearly re-test as in uk, so once it's through, that is it. Ill be sure to let you all know how i get on./Wyhy

Welcome! Our very first Manx Member! I think there's one or two members head over to the IOM for the TT, so you never know, a mini meet might be possible!

Thanks for your comments about membership - Glad you've already found it useful!:afro:

Hello! I was over there last weekend, but in my wifes 206, not my Legnum.

We are often over - usually at least twice a year and often more, so I'm sure we'll be over again. Whereabouts are you? Our friends live in Kirk Michael, but previously lived on Governors Hill. We used to frequent the Cat With No Tail when we visited, now it's the Mitre!

Incidentally - watch for astonishing brake fade coming down from the mountain, especially slowing as you get to the Creg!

Hope you enjoy the site and the car....

Hey Nick, I live in colby, down in the south of the island. If you dont know it you will probably have passed through it if you have made it down as far as port erin. You will have to come over in the legnum next time, try and coincide it with a duke track day at jurby airfield. Only a stones throw from Kirk Micheal, as you probably know.

As for the brake fade, I had noticed, and after an initial wory, and reading some usefull threads, dicovered that stock brakes weren't the best. I am now in a bit of a dilemma, I am thinking of just upgrading the pads to see if that suits my needs. I will probably do a couple of track days a year and thats it apart from a daily commute so dont really want to spend fortunes, rather save it for maintenance.

At the moment Im getting conflicting reports from a couple of mates who do rally / track days. Some suggest the Mintex M1155, and others the Ferodo DS2500 ! Pricewise nothing in it so if anyone has any experience with both then your findings would be most appreciated./Hmmm

Thanks to all for the warm welcome, as i said before top site:thumbsup:

I can't place Colby. I have definitely been through Port Erin, though. Both my friends work at Ronaldsway, so often have a trip to Castle Town for Lunch, and a couple of times have been on to the Sound. They do a good sandwich at the little visitors centre there!

As for Brakes, the DS2500s still got some fade down the mountain, but less than standard items. At one point, they were the pad of choice on these forums, but now I would suggest you search this site for Carbotech, or posts made by The Tyrant. They seem to be a good pad, with nothing but praise. A few on here have used Mintex, but I haven't heard any really good reviews.

Cheers Nick, I'll start searching. What are your mates names, or what do your mates do, sorry to get personnel but I may know them. I know quite a few lads who work at Ronaldsway, I work in Castletown at the builders merchant on the other side of the river as you head in. Small world! :beerchug:

As for the invasion i think its a great idea, I quite often see other clubs over. Maybee we could organise it around TT week and take some roads back from some of these hairy arsed bikers./boxing

Tim - drives an Evo 8.
Jessica - drives an A3 or a Mitsy Shogun.

I'm all up for a IOM invasion, although having been there during TT week, it's not the best time to drive! There's suicidal loonies on 2 wheels everywhere!!

I have heard that Jurby is not so good as a place to go for track days - narrow tarmac, potholes and stones (=chips) aplenty. I have been karting there though. They are doing a lot of work at the main entrance at the moment, though? Developing something? And there was something going on last weekend - plenty of TVRs on the boat with us, plus a couple of Aston Martins. Never worked out what it was, though.

They are building a new prison.
It was a track day last weekend, I was up there and so were all the TVR's you saw on the boat! It was an absolute washout, worst conditions ever apparently. Spent most of the day facing the wrong way in a 280bhp Mk1 escort rally car, with slicks on !/rally Good fun though. I know what you saying about the track but you takes what you can get!:afro:

If you were there saturday lunchtime, then I know exactly what weather you were having! I was walking Jessicas dogs at the Point of Ayre (sp?) and got very wet indeed.....

I would be up for a day at Jurby. I guess the other advantage of non-TT time is affordable crossings and hotel space. When do you reckon would be best? Mid/End June?

I will do some research on ferry fare prices, I think from start of may the prices start to rocket, and dont come down till mid septeber.
Leave it with me.:2thumbsup
