There are a couple of those in existance. I think you have to modify the front turbo to fit around the starter motor, hybrid the clutch, change a serious amount of wiring and the ECU, obviously transplant the engine/intake/turbos. You will also need a custom exhaust. I can't remember what other issues there are.

Try searching the site for VR2 - that seems to be what they are nick-named!

Sell your car and put the money towards a proper VR4,it will save you time, blood, sweat ,tears and money IMHO.

I would agree.

Not sure if the front suspension could take it ?

Can I put VR4 front suspension on my car and change those parts? Or this running gear is all together and nothing I can change? by the way, how big is VR4 fuel consumption?

have you ever been in a t5 volvo or a series 2 rs turbo? well i have had the pleasure of being in andys vr3 3/4's and it is a lot more civilised than the standard production offerings from ford or volvo, yes it will spin its tits off in 4th in the wet but only if you are a complete clot with the throttle.
my advice, do it and spend a long time looking like this :D

Your gearbox will fit the VR4 if it is manual, just needs to have a hybridised clutch, IIRC. So your driveshafts etc should be fine.

There are plenty of FWD 300 bhp cars out there - if you really want to do it, then go for it!

I've got one of these 'VR2's too and it's no problem driving with 300+ bhp on FWD only, just make sure you don't floor it in 1st (ever!) or 2nd (okay just for a bit of fun occasionaly then) gear and get some good tires. Search for VR2 and you'll find all info you'll need to make your decision.

Andy found that he got 30mpg out of his VR2, but expect that figure to move 5mpg down if you drive it in the city or like having fun.
