Mayfield Drive, Leigh, Lancashire???

Thought these cars were rare??

Just seen one parked across the road from mine.

Certainly are rare!

They were the first 'soft' VR4-style facelift that lasted 18 months or so before they were rebadged Classic for the 2.0... Equippe for the 2.4 GDI and Elegance for the 2.5 V6-24V

Hang on... Am I understanding this I have a Galant V6 Sport W Reg - Is mine one of these "Rare" cars???

The Sport and V6 Sport lasted for around 18 months before they were rebadged Classic, Equipe and Elegance V6-24V... These later models lasted around another 18 months until the Galant range was dropped...

The 2.0 Classic and 2.4 Equipe GDI came with the cloth seats of the Sport models as standard, but you could option leather, and had manual air con... The Elegance V6-24V had leather as standard with climate control...

What some Sports came with, what made them rare, was a sunroof and even rarer the early models had twin front driving and fog lamps - the circular design that then changed to the single light unit version of the VR4 front lights.

And Sport models were available in Black, Mauve and Silver - the later Classic, Equipe and Elegance added White to that list.

Enjoy the car - it's a "rare" you don't see many of in that spec - not "rare" as in get polishing and preserve it for the Antiques Roadshow in 2036!

Beat this then, my car with factory recaro's, black momo wheel (not ugly red), facelift, mmcs, ayc, big arse sunroof. Of course now it is a manual as well which would really make it one of a kind :)

thats what makes it so rare, its got a 4 pot in it:thinking:

anyway even if its not a v6 its still an extremely rare car, in fact its unique in the uk, theres one of the same spec but thats white

I suppose so if you count that its one of only two that soapy has written off /STP

Jusy as an addition to the original post at the top, I was out walking the dog on Monday evening and saw a Black Legnum VR4, P-Reg turning into the same street as the V6 Sport.

So that's my '97, P-Reg, White Legnum VR4, the Galant V6 Sport and now the Black Legnum VR4 all in a 100m Radius!!!

Mine is the one parked opposite the entrance to Mayfeild Drive, next to the Old Mill Restruant!!

If the black one was you let me know....

Be interesting to know where you go for servicing etc....
