To change the gaitors you have to cut off the old ones and lookk inside the end cups and you should see a circlip.Remove these and knock the ends off, slide on new gaitors, replace cups and refit circlips.I found it easier to get universal ones, cut them down the join, put them over driveshaft and reglue them with superglue,a lot easier, cleaner and much quicker.

The manual i got is mitsi's own,had to be specially ordered as you cant get haynes manuals for these cars(so mitsubishi told me).Its not anywhere as detailed as haynes but it is helpfull.Ineeded it as i had a cambelt break and had to change the head.

Haynes only list manuals for the Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero & L200 pickups. I know this because I couldnt get one for my 1993 Lancer 1.6 either.

Mine cost me £400 to get it through it's MOT in January - The downpipe needed replacing, and since u can only get the 4WD ones from 'Bishi themselves it cost a whopping £372 including VAT

I also needed a new Track rod end - a veritable BARGAIN at £25 :p

Hey, they're expensive, BUT THEY'RE WORTH IT !! :D

I just hope you didnt have to spend that much on yours !

Well japmetal mine failed on both back brake disks,1 track rod end, both driveshaft gaitors a bulb and the drivers seatbelt and a rear seatbelt.
The mot itself cost 40 squid..the back brake disks cost me 40squid for the pair secoundhand....the track rod end cost 10squid secoundhand...the driveshaft gaitors wich were universal ones cost 12squid each...and the most exspensive thing were the seatbelts @ 36squid each brandnew they are made by securon oh and the bulb cost 50p secoundhand so it should be good for a couple of years now and the total is 186squid :(.But now all the work is done im happy as can be :-D oh and i had to buy a road map to find the jap scrapyard that was 7squid and also the tenner petrol i put in to get there brings the total to 203squid its all good now though :)

Glad to hear it wasnt too bad then !

I'm beginning to hate the inflated prices of 4WD parts tho - especially since I cant find any scrapped ones and have to buy everything new :(

I actually saw another VR4-kitted 6G today in Wrexham - couldnt tell in passing if it was a GTi, but I think I upset the woman driver by staring as we drove past each other tho :rolleyes5
