VR4 "Special Equiped Vehicle" modification?

Hi from Russia!


I saw Galant VR4 on market with VIN # EC5A-0100366 and Japan CAPS showed that this car is "Special Equiped Vehicle" and Classification "SYGF2". What does it mean???

This auto has EVO's spoiler, special air-kit, and momo wheel and recaro seats.
The seller has told, that this automobile has 300 h.p.

There is something called a 'Super VR-4' I believe, it could be one of those or simply a normal VR-4 with extra body kit.

Someone else may correct me as I don't have a clue what VIN numbers correspond with what.

Its an interesting question as in my owners manual the VR4 is listed as the following types: SNGF (manual) and SYGF (auto) but no mention of a SYGF2 ?

Maybe it IS a special edition ? Not a standard colour either is it

The Super VR-4 is a 500 unit limited production version produced in 1999

It would appear that there were, both Legnum and Galant versions.

3) Bonnet (Too EVO ?!?)
4) Bilstein Shocks (Worth it ?)

6) Brembo Brakes (Worth it - Yes)
7) New Disks (SCR Pro ?!?)
8) LED Headlights (RAYBRIC RC441 - Probably ?)

What do you think.

Looks like the whole car is original - noticed on one of the links there is one with a CF bonnet - wonder if that was standard on some of them?

I do not know about the rest of the Super VR-4 spec but the wing on the car in the first picture of this thread is the same as mine as far as I can tell

I am certain that the rest of the spec is not fitted to my car

And the odd thing about various pictures of the cars shown is that they only have one 'fog light' either side - I assume that the kerb indicator lights are not part of the Super VR-4 spec

If you imagine the car without the skirts, it looks like a pre-facelift. (Bumper, wheel arches etc.) Interesting that they based it on the pre-facelift when it was a 1999 model? Maybe they optioned up the last few of the PF cars to sell them?

I saw a bright red official Legnum 'Super' VR4 at a dealerships in the UK. At the time I enquired about it and was told it was fitted with some extra lightweight aero parts, but ws mechanically identical to 'normal' VR4's. Just a mild make over.

I wasn't that interested at the time as it wasn't any faster, and I thought that aero parts meant aeroplane parts - couldn't figure that out :dozey:

I suppose it must be somewhere around still.

I can't say how many are in the country, but in our city (population little under 1.000.000), we know of 2 (will be 3 in a month time) Legnums VR-4 and about 3-4 Galants VR-4 (8G), 2(7G-6a12), 3old models (4g63)... :)

Should be no more then 100 cars country wide... I suppose LESS... :)
