I suggest we meet at 1000. I'm OK to go straight to Brads or meet at Greenlane BP for example.

How many pers will be attending? I will be doing engine flush, oil change, adjust hand brake, mount ECU properly and vacuum, wash, wax etc.

By the way... it's my birthday today and I'm drunk *wooooo*

I'll be there with your tools, and decat, and to lend a hand or whatnot. Not too sure how long i can stay, but 10 sounds like a decent start time to me.

If everyone turns up at 10 that would be awesome, so perhaps meeting at Greenlane Foodtown and Te Irirangi at 9:30?

Ryan - we've got a powerful house vacuum system thing. It doesn't go to the shed of course, but you can park where my VR-4 is and clean out your car there.

I'm going to be doing transfer case and AYC on the VR-4, replacing a rear boot panel that is cracked in it, and on the ST-R I'm hoping to get the handbrake and brakes sorted out, and swap the gearshift surround so I can paint it some colour other than UGLY WOODGRAIN BROWN!

Scratch that, im not gonna be there any more.

Going to take my heap of **** car off the road, and sort out its issues.

Anything more than a half throttle and i blow my intercooler piping at the second join from the turbo..

wwwhhhizzzzzzzzzzzzz BANG!!! Stall, black smoke.. Cant be good for the engine:baby:

Happened for the third time last night at 10.30/11, on an open road down from my place, no street lights at all, nowhere to pull off to the side, ended up half in a ditch, sitting there for 20 minutes with the hazards on and cars going past at 100k/Grrr

Had to try and attach my pipes by brail, not so good when your engine bay is 1,000,000,000 degrees. Got my hand stuck between a tbolt clamp and a pipe, and now have burns to match carstens:afro: /pan

Either way, im going to pull it apart and get the brass coolant fittings properly braised by a friend of dads (thread tape doesnt cut it), and sort out getting the pipework flared or a lip welded on, cause i cant have this happenening all the time, could be really dangerous on the motorway or something..

So apart from the intercooler piping, how is it going?

TBH not totally sure, sometimes it seems good, it seems to be really unsteady when you engine brake, quite jerky, with funny exhaust sounds. I think its worth giving saturday a miss, and trying to sort some of the little problems out. Especially that funny raspy/rattly noise that i think comes from the old internal gate, i want to make sure its nothing more sinister, like not enough oil to the turbo or something.

Anyways, i dont want to hijack this thread too much, just that i cant really fit everything in this weekend.. and i want avoid having to drive the ute for too much.. plus iv still got to get my stuff out of the garage, car parts everywhere blah blah blah etc... which i guess is fair enough but hey.

you should come along so we can all help out with the issues, otherwise we could move it to your place haha :)

It depends on the weather Ryan. I have a fishing trip lined up if the weather is as good as the forecast says Sunday morning is going to be. The way the forecasts go I will probably be at the workshop!

Ryan

I'm going regardless - my oil really needs changing. Weather for tomorrow claims to be:

"showers and fine spells, westerlies dying away" Max of 17oC

Did you have some problems fitting it Brad? I was hoping to pick up one I bought on TM on Friday but could only get it midday Saturday and was thinking of fitting it later today. ( hence my non-appearance at your place yesterday) Just got back from a fairly miserable day out at sea (rain, wind) fortunately the fishing was'nt too bad!

when in it's lowest position, ie when it reduces the throw markedly it scraped on the centre tunnel. What I need is some bigger spacers at the bottom and longer bolts to lift the whole white molded plastic section up by about 5mm

Is yours the same as Mike's? I gather you have seen the posting from someone on OZVR4 who drilled a hole between the top and bottom holes and filed away some of the plastic on the bottom of the plastic section. He also put the blue spacers under the plastic thingy.

bradc
04-05-2008, 06:15 AM
yeah I had the blue spacers, not sure if mine is 100% identical, but they do look similar. I'll just get some bigger spacers made up.
