Now this I'm keen on :D

160F = 71C and 180F = 82C

Not sure if this will be big enough to actually cool all that much though?

I thought you'd be able to screw a normal filter onto the bottom of it

I'll measure it up tonight and see what I think. It is 40mm thick, but I don't think that will put the filter down too low???

30-40,

it ends up being inline with the height of the x-member.

its just at that point if you hit a large heavy solid object on the road it might get damaged.

what happened about the amsoil setup?

bradc

the amsoil setup is 150 pounds or so and is for the two filters without a cooler. Considering how good amsoil is, and how good their filters are, I think I'm going to forget it and just go with this sort of setup instead.

if the amsoil system can prolong the life of the oil by 2x then it'll pay for its self in a couple of years no problem.
If it prolongs the life by more than 2x it'll pay its self off even sooner.

Bigger outlay, sure.

Problem is where do you put it in our engine bays?

I don't know about you, but I have plenty of room around my transmission.

your first thought really should be for an oil cooler for the gearbox. Very easy to install, you've already got the lines there.

ok, measured it up tonight and it looks like the 40mm adapter will move the filter down a bit, but I'm not worried, I couldn't hit it coming in or out of a driveway unless it had a huge lump in the middle.

The only way I could hit it would be driving up to a curb or by crashing into one of those concrete blocks that you see at car parks. I don't intend on doing either of those, so I think I'll chance it :)
