Is the knocking from the front or the rear of the car?

I'd suggest CV joints? :undecided

Any lasting uncorrected damage when you had your prang on the track the other month?

If you have the steering on full lock this will cause the pump to possible make a knocking noise as your over loading it
Just a thought
Have you trid doing it in the dry to see if you get the same noise ???

dont think its prang related and havent tried it in the dry because i thought it would be harder to get it sideways will endeavor to try in the morning if the snow has gone

I agree CV joints. I had to replace mine at 45K miles. Knocking noise around tight roundabouts and slow three-point-turns.

I think this could be a common problem on galants.

Mine knocks on full lock, always has, but I only put on full lock when parking or getting out of my drive.

What tyres do you have ?

Would a worn pump also cause this ? Having heard Richie's today it sounded a little noisey - he is going to get it checked out

 I hope you dont leave it on full lock when you have parked up PJ and turning off engine and the manual states that this can damage the pump also as your putting strain on the pump

Thanks for that info Nick - thankfully I don't leave it on full lock as a rule.
