OK, so mr. observant here didn't notice til someone pointed it out today that his VR-4 has no radio antenna like the V6 did!

I worked out that it uses what I'd originally figured were rear window heaters (duh!), which seems to be the case having read a few antenna related posts.

I have a few questions though:

- Are the 2 antenna leads that come out behind the stereo wired completely separately?

- Are there 2 separate antennas per rear window, or a single one on each?

- Is there an antenna amp and, if so, where is it, and does it amplify both antennas or just one?

- Would either of the antennas be suitable for TV reception? Kenwood do a TV add-on unit for my head unit which uses wire antennas that stick on your windows, so it must work at least to some degree? What does the MMCS use as it's TV antenna?

Cheers!

Mike

- If you have two antenna, then there is two antenna leads.
- One on each window
- two amps (a small box behind the plastic window frame)
- no idea about TV reception, but probably not.

- I initially used the left window antenna for radio reception on my after-market stereo. Big mistake in Australia! Reception was awful. Now I'm using the drivers side one (the smaller plug behind the dash, with an adapter). Reception is great.

It's the 'diversity antenna' system, read more about it on these topics:

Interesting.. According to this, I'm using the taped wire in Australia. This is the one that gives the best reception here.

I guess you should try both, and see which works best for you.
