Hello.

I was searching around the forums and I could find a little info on the Eibach Pro Kit, part number is 6028-140, but only in reference to the V6 FWD models. Has anyone had any experience with this kit on a 8G VR4 galant?

I can only assume it would the same as people who have fitted the Bilstein B12 kits, it works well ( very well!) but the ride height is a little lower due the extra weight of the AWD VR4??

I'm asking this as my local distributor is currently offering them to me for a great price in a package with some Bilstein B8 sprint dampers.

Cheers to anyone who can shed a little light on it for me :afro:

Life Saver! Let me know how you go coz I'm finding it very difficult to find these shocks in Australia, no-one wants to get them in or get back to me. If you could provide who you went through, price etc I would be very grateful (send a pm if need be). Although I'm more interested in the B6 Sport shock though

Interested in the springs too but have been advised against them simply because they are not suited to our cars, in the Eibach brochure they have axle loadings of 1000kg+ so they will support them, but as you said they sit a little lower due to the weight.

I'll wait till someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject to give you a more definite answer.

No worries mate, happy to share what I've come across so far.

Righto, I pretty much went straight to bilstein australia (http://www.bilstein.com.au/) and go to them there. After I gave them the part numbers they got back to em a few days later with a price of $1100 AUS for the B8s, I'd imagine the B6s would be a little cheaper, but as far as I know they are only for vehicles lowered up to 20mm or so?

I got in contact with my local Bilstein dealer (inline steering) and they could also get the Eibachs for me at the same time, direct from Eibach AUS, for around $550 but they gave me the same warning that they "aren't suited" for the AWD vehicle, if it was because of anything other then the weight difference between the vehicles he was not able to tell me.

My main concern is that because the Eibachs are progressive springs and the extra weight of the AWD that the springs will "pre-loaded" so to say and I won't really get the most out of the springs and their price.

The only other options readily available in Aus in Terms of springs are Teins and Kings. Shocks are either KYB or Bilsteins. There are a few coilover options including Ksport and Hot Bits going for around the $2k mark.

Hope that helps mate.

Have a look here - the B12 Kit is specced for the V6...

Have a look at Spirits car an how low it is with the kit... /pan

Mmmmm I've seen that. Looks very very mean and Spirit reports it handles VERY well.
After a bit more trawling around I think I'm going to go for the Eibach + Bilstein Combo. There are no reports of anything negative of fitting the V6 kit to the VR4 other then a "lower then I though it would be". It will give me a ~40mm drop still keeping it legal in AUS and I shall hopefully avoid having to guard roll.

I can give a good confirmation of how it turns out in a month or so once they arrive and are fitted.

Now then, time to begin the great exhaust hunt. Bank account has taken some damage the last month or so /pan

Looking forward to the results.

Ive got in contact with a few local dealers in Perth, so I hope that goes well. The price of the Eibach Springs does turn me off a little (and not being suited doesn't inspire any confidence), Ive heard the Tein S.Tech springs aren't too bad on pricing at around $300AU (i think).

Other problem I'm having is that Tein/Cusco Adjustable Coilovers are similarly priced :S annoyingly tempting, although more inclined to go Bilstein dampers.

Yeah the price is a bit of a hit but I just couldn't find any other available progressive springs to suit. Guess I've got to be happy with them, not a lot of room budget wise for a second attempt, other then a set of kings for ~$260 AUD mark.

I wish I could grab some coilovers; they are ideal and I wouldn't mind splashing out the money for them really. But my job has me move from state to state frequently and in some states adjustable suspension is illegal unless you get and engineers cert stating that they have locked (not in WA I don't think).

EDIT: Typos

i might rethink since its starting to look complicated.

facts. its got to be better than the GLS suspension and tyre set up (standard 14" rims) so i will notice an improvment.
it will take a good few months to find the limits on the V6 when i get it. you dont just get in a car and find out when it slides on the first day.
if i do decide to upgrade the suspension there is a company that modifies cars 20 miles away so i can always get them to sort it out since thats what they do anyway and the work will then be under warranty if it goes wrong

Couldn't find any?!?!
The V6 has more readily available spring kits made for them then the VR4 does....
Speedbox (http://www.speedbox.co.uk/) has a good search option you can use to track down the part numbers you need.

Also remember I will be fitting my springs and dampers to a EC5A VR4, can't guarantee your experience will be the same. But from all accounts I've seen Eibach + Bilstein is a damn good combination for the V6.

Hehe. Sorry mate, nothing to update on yet. Dampers are coming separately by sea, 12 weeks away!!

And, man is it hard to find places to know anything about VR4s in OZ let alone ACT. Even the "import specialists" ( imports seems to mean Skylines and Supras pfftt /pan ) don't have a clue. Hate to think of the legwork required come service time.
