Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should get for a performance stainless exhaust system?

Reading various posts about performance exhausts is becoming confusing. :)

just get a custom one made up at an exhaust shop

That had crossed my mind. I think a trip into Seatons down here might be in order.

Anything that I should be wary of though? I hear various stories about people's cars not passing warrant due to an aftermarket exhaust being fitted. Which to me seems a bit odd considering the amount of stainless exhausts I've seen on various modified cars.

It was for being too loud. I know its loud, had it tested a while ago and at 3500rpm it was 98 -99db and for a laugh got a redline reading too at well over 100db! Its a crappy RPS muffler but thats coming off on friday and getting a nice new Apexi one on :D

its completly stupid! i mean a WOF acording to LTNZ is a ceertificate to say the car is safe to be on the road at time of inspection? How does having a loud exhaust make a car unsafe?

talk about regulating to please few old barstards with nothing better to do!

I agree completely, I think having a loud exhaust actually makes it safer - it will be easier for people to hear you coming (especially people that are hard of hearing)! :P

Nah, it has to be taken into account. I thought an exhaust couldn't be too loud. Then I went to a dyno day down here and they had a WRX rally car to show off. Long story short.

loud = WRX + 2.5 straight through = OMFG!

made the room next door shake like hell when the 265kw evo before it didn't make any noticeable noise.

but does that mean its unsafe?? no i dont think so!! what i am saying is that the WOF inspection is ment to determine if a car is safe or not....

also they have changed the law now that a tyre can be completly ****ed (not down to the cords tho) but aslong as it isnt below the wear indicators it passable. so we have had cars come in that the tyres are bald right across on both sides, but the middle where the indicators are still have abound 2 - 2.5 mm tread left and we have to pass it!

so what i am saying is that the wof system is a complete and utter joke!

Lol I found my reading slip and it says 117db! :D

Anyway back to the original question, aftermarket exhausts: Trust does one called "MX" with only a 60mm pipe diameter though. HKS used to do a "Silent Hi-Power" one but I think they've stopped producing them. Any others out there?

Im a fan of my exhaust, and mine was done by pitstopp.
i have a 3" mandrel bend system with 4" tip which sounds really good, wont fail WOF
