I seem to always have problems ordeing stuff for my v6. I get most confused with all this pre/post facelift stuff. Can i get a definitive date of manufacture from my vin number?.

Also im sure the vin tells you whether its post facelift, colour etc. anyone have a breakdown of how this works?.

cheers

Ahead of the techical answers coming in - have you got the 'shark-nosed' front bumper - like the later VR4s had - and the rear bumper valance and skirts, like the later VR4s had..?

If its a JDM car the month and year of manufacture is printed on the backs of your seat belt tags too ;-)

Cheers,

Ben.

No photo comes up!

If it's the same style front bumper and rear skirts as my black Galant in my 'signature' - then it's a facellift.

Your car is a UK spec facelift. Only the V6 sports and the later Elegence and Equippe got the VR4 Facelift style front bumper.

Mine looked like yours when I first got it, only black and an estate :P.

I changed the front bumper and grill to V6 sport ones.

I think the facelift happened in the UK in bout 98 same as in Japan.

Is yours manual or auto? If its Auto and tip that again confirms its a facelift.

Cheers, its a manual, tan leather electric seats etc, but its a 2001 plate.

Do you think it was sitting around for ages before it was registered.

Nah mine has electric seats too. they made the V6-24's right up till late 2001 i think. then in 2002 they changed to the elegence and sport versions.

No.... The 1st facelift on the UK cars (Which yours is Glover), was early 2000 to late 2001. There was a facelift in 1998 but this was Japan only.

If you give your dealer a call, speak to their parts dept, give 'em your chassis code and they can tell you the date of manufacture using CAPS.

I think there was a minor update (not facelift) on UK cars in 1998, when they upgraded the V6 brakes, to something slightly less resembling jelly, but still rather poo. I think they may have made a couple of other functional amendments at the same time (third three-point seatbelt in the back springs to mind).

Ive just had to replace a caliper this weekend (drivers side one piston sticking on!)

Looking for discs and pads is a minefield, some are advertised to fit all cars post 97, some to fit cars post 2001. then i got into whether it had twin pot calipers. I got very confused.

I ordered some pads (cheap ones to tide me over for a little while before i replaced the discs) they were advertised to fit a galant 2.5 v6 (ea5) between 99 and 01.
