Not sure if I'm missing something but how do I change my avatar?
Or is this option not available yet?

Tried to click edit etc and now it won't let me save one or click an option to select one.

Where am I going wrong?

Should be okay..

Have you checked the size of the avatar you're uploading or are you having problems with the preset avatars?
