For those that may be interested.....

My living is as a contract IT programme manager specialising in Business Intelligence solutions. My last gig (at BG Group) finished in November 2007. Until the beginning of last week I have been jobless, my own making as I was keen to get the right thing.

Anyway - I have secured a contract role at VW/Audi Group in Milton Keynes (the commute is a bummer but the job is bang on). Now I guess a lot of you will remember the Top Gear programme when the Audi R8 was given some airtime?? Well I absolutely fell head over-heels for it. Almost wet myself last November when I was passed by one on the M20 returning from a sojourn in France. Don't see many of them about. Well in Milton Keynes they are common as muck!!!! And what a superb motor/rally

Last Tuesday (3rd June) I had a drive in an Evo X courtesy of Mitsi Reading (I live next door) and was almost blown away - Today I took an R8 for a spin, I have not yet come back down to earth.

I STILL FEEL IT WAS A DREAM!!! What a superb piece of machinery.... I will be going out again next week in one as right now I feel all blubbery and a commentary from me would not do it justice......

I think I'm going to enjoy this job as they have no problem sending even newbies like me out for a joyride.

Yea sure .......... but, but, but it's not as good as the VR4 surely? :inquisiti

For those interested, it was a manual box and the brakes were uprated to the ceramic option. If you know MK, there are a lot of roundabouts - This motor truly straightens them all out...........

Blubbery reducing but still right up there

Audi have delivered 430 units in the UK so far and have 2400 on back-order - a few issues with producing volumes but I don't want to see them become common before I have one!!

Not pound for pound certainly but unit to unit, I'm afraid so

Yea, guessed as much lol.

So, it's just the £80,000 odd that you need now? :speechles

Base unit is 80k!!!! Options, (like ceramics) increase the price at a ridiculous rate of knots.

Still, it would put my neighbour's XKR in its place ;-)

R8......mmmm, superb car and you're a lucky man to get a ride.

Have visited the VW place in MK when I worked for a VW dealer and I do recall it being a city of roundabouts.

Use to go to Milton Keynes quite a lot at times and as said roundabout after roundabout
And some Road names are Alpha / Newmeric is I recall right :speechles

RS8 Hmmmm think I would personally go for a RS6 but everyone has a choice /rally/rally/rally

It'd be the RS6 for me too, but I wouldn't mind an R8

They are an amazing vehicle to drive aren't they. I am an apprentice tech for Audi, i go to training in sydney for one week every month, and had the pleasure of driving a press release one earlier this year.. (Talk about perfect timing) Ive never been looked at so many times in my life, and was very surprised they let a 19 yr old drive it... yessssssssssssss...

Let an R8 out at a junction near the Audi garage in Sheffield. Looks and sounds very nice.

This one didn't have the silver coloured side pods, and was in fact all black. Tasty!

Now, what should I have, 1 x R8, or a fleet of 20 VR-4s ?....

Very nice, had a good look at them at the ring. There were a couple of them, unfortunately one didn't come back as a complete R8/pan . Typical Audis though.................lovely beasts
