Have tried 5 places now for insurance and can't get anything sensible

29
4 years no claims
SP30 last year
Garaged
10, 000 miles per annum as the sole driver
Cat 1 immobiliser and alarm
Car only has a stainless steel exhasut on it

Policy Shop - couldn't do it for less than £1400
Firebond - wouldn't insure the car
Direct Line - £1500 with £500 excess
Pace Ward - have sent 3 mails and have heard nothing
Elephant - won't quote me on-line

Endsleigh gave me £950 via confused but I have a feeling this is probably wrong aswell.

Just can't seem to get decent cover from anywhere!! :( :( :(

I pay £700 with NFU Mutual. I don't need to declare modifications, it's fully comp with £150 excess and you don't even have to be a farmer :-D

Tried them and there's was one of the most expensive (Osbournes that is)
We were talking £1600 ish

I can't understand how you guys are all getting less than £1000 consistently.

I'm not missing anything out, the only think I can think of is my postcode which is TS27. It's between Sunderland and Hartlepool.

FFS it's not beirut.........

Will try and get through to Pace Ward again tomorrow :Cry1:

If PW also give me a high quote I'm going to ask why.

Do they give out this sort of information or would I be wasting my breath?

Just got a call from Scott at Pace Ward = £1400

So I asked why my premiums are so high compared to others, apparently it's because I've got an SP30 and even though it was in January of last year, it's still quite recent!!

Think I'm going to have to give up on thge car for the time being :sad3:
I've never made a claim EVER yet I'm constantly getting shafted.

Going to have to wait until I'm 30, have full no claims, wait until the SP30 comes off and move to the safest area in the UK.

Even then my premium will probably be something like £1000
Not happy.

the prices will more than likley just keep going up..
people taking the piss with claiming for whiplash etc will not see the price come down drastically..

oh, there another one for the list of pet hates, people claiming for whiplash, when they dont need to...

Do you have a garage? Are you fitting a cat 1?

Put your mum or dad on as named drivers - may lower the premium.

Try the policy shop or dorset insurance group.

Think I've tried just about everybody Calum.
Policy Shop was about the same as the others £1500

Told them I'd put a CAT 1 immobiliser on it and that it would be garaged.
Didn't think of the named driver bit but not sure how much that will affect it.

Best quote so far is Tesco £1037

But and it's a big but I have to fit a tracker (which will cost be about £700)
So that's looking slim aswell

We tried Tescos first, seemed quite cheap if I remember, but over the net they asked for a tracker which we didn't have, phoned them instead and they didn't ask for a tracker.
Went with Adrian Flux in the end anyway and apparently minor mods don't increase your premium, swear they make up rules as they go along. Around £600 a year anyway, and that's on a driveway and classed as good/ish area, pull your fillings out yer teeth here lately though.

Try Bell Direct mate, my quote is less than 800 notes, mods declared. I dont have any SP's and have a full NCB but give them a go anyway. They quoted me online Bell Direct (http://www.belldirect.co.uk )

Hi The_boy,

I live in Washington, and have a recent claim, yet I still got my Legnum VR4 insured for only £485 through Lifesure Insurance. That's fully comp with £250 excess, windscreen cover with £50 excess, legal cover, hire car if the event the car is off the road for repairs due to claim, and 30 days green card per annum! Before trying them, the best quote I had was £781. Try them on 01480 474604.

Cheers,

Eddie, that is incredibly cheap mate ! Can you give us a bit more info about your personal details, e.g. age, ncb etc, and are you 100% sure they have it down as a VR4 ? No-one else on here has got anywhere near that price

Nick Mann

There was a story of someone who had their VR4 insured with an insurer who thought it was a V6-24. Could be dodgy if a claim was ever made.
