Hi All,

I have been in contact with some people from Autolite Dragway (Meremere)

I have asked if we can do a club display at the winter dragwars on 24th August.

What we can do is basically have an area to park up as a group, we can even arrange to have some VR4 only "race your mate" runs.

Please let me know if you can come and if you intend to race.

This is quite a good chance to get a little bit of exposure for the club.

It is also a good chance for Brad to show us how quick his car really is ???

and Mike to show us what a single turbo can do ???

Come on guys you know you want to.

Should have mentioned earlier, cost is $15 to get in, $25 to race.

Gate opens at 10am, scrutineering from 10.30-12.30

Track opens at 11.30.

This is the last of the winter dragwars.

Great news all !!!

I have spoken to Scott and Wendy from the drag strip and they have said they will give us an area to park up and allow us to put up some signage for the event.

I had a chat also about the track and he has suggested that because it is winter that they don't prep the track with VHT so it is alot slicker, i.e. less chance of blowing your gearbox, diff or TF case, so come on guys what better excuse to come out for a run.

Good news, the committee has decided to put up some prizes for the drag day. To be drawn at random, one for racers, and a draw for all attendees.

You will need to have your membership card with you.

I'm gonna bail on this meet too/pan

Iv decided to save my money for going down to the snow the following week. Plus now that the ute is free again (brother has been using it for 4 weeks.. after his 7th crash:thinking:) im gonna make a start, fitting the injectors i bought and ditching the MAF, and rewiring the MAP2 and boost solenoid to run the car. Hopefully can sort out a brake upgrade or repair too.. (Brad, what about those evo brakes;))

I might still come watch, but definately not going down the strip for now.

Hi All,

Sunday is looking like it could rain.

If we get rained out who is keen for a bit of a drive out to Awhitu instead ?

We will make a call on Friday morning as to if we attempt a meet or not.

bradc

I'm more than happy to attend if it is wet. We've got 4wd remember and it will give us an excuse if we all run 16 second times

Maybe the rain would help keep people away too so we wouldn't have to queue for miles either... I have plenty of wet weather gear which I will be sure to bring this time around.

bradc

true

dickytim
19-08-2008, 07:52 PM
They won't open the track if it is wet regardless of if we wanted to run or not, it is just too dangerous...

I have just rechecked the rain radar and it looks like we may get a massive downpour around 10-12 :(

if the weather is complelty crap ill prob give it a miss coz i have heaps of things to do anyway...but hopefully its not crap!

Is that one run or as many as you want?

Gly
22-08-2008, 11:05 PM
not looking to good tomorrow,

http://www.metservice.co.nz/default/index.php?alias=auckland

it depends,
back in the day, 4 partice runs. (still timed)
and then knockouts.

practice runs depends on how many people show up,
you may get more or less. so the sooner you get there the more runs you will get

1hotvr4
23-08-2008, 05:19 AM
so are we still up for tomorrow??

bradc

still up for the awhitu cruise if it is too wet for the drags

Hi All,

I am going to have to pull out of this, the rain radar still places some heavy rain over Auckland/Hamilton from about lunch time onwards and my horse has decided to pull a muscle in his right rear fetlock, so after just paying the last $400 vet bill I am going to have to call them out again tomorrow so I am going to have to be extra careful with my $$$ for the next little while, besides I should be here when the vet comes out as I saw the little bugger do it :(

Subaru ETA
24-08-2008, 06:34 AM
so did anyone actually turn up at the bombays? i did my back in again and couldnt justify driving down if the drags werent happening. too sore driving for too long! :(

Gly
24-08-2008, 06:45 AM
not i,

drags were canceled due to rain anyway

bradc
24-08-2008, 07:01 AM
As soon I saw the rain this morning I knew it would be a waste of time getting up!

NAUSED
25-08-2008, 02:13 AM
so does that mean there will be another winter drag wars because this one was canceled?

wouldn't mind seeing what the evo zero can do.

Gly
25-08-2008, 05:50 AM
no canceled,
not postponed.

ie that was it till night wars starts up again
